UH-1H Iroquois "Huey"
Operator: 4th Aviation
Location: Butts Army Airfield, Fort Carson, Colorado (USA)
Timeframe: 1991-1993
Personal Interest:
The UH-1H Iroquois utility helicopter was operated by 4th Aviation during my tour of duty at Fort Carson. Most often, it was used as troop carrier for Air Cavalry operations. During exercises, it was frequently used to quickly move Headquarters Company officers. A particularly memorable ride for me was in a UH-1H, flying at low level and high speed through the canyons of the Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site, doors open and loosely strapped in.
