Russian Cruiser Pyotr Velikiy

1/350 Trumpeter kit of the Kirov-class cruiser Pyotr Velikiy in Russian service. Detailed using Daiyee/LXMX photoetch set. The model took slightly more than one year to finish. The kit fit nicely with only a couple exceptions. The PE was very detailed and easy to use, but the instructions were completely inadequate. There is only one sheet of instructions for the entire 8 PE frets. I had to look at instructions from other PE sets and many reference photos of the real thing and of models. I initially intended to use AKAN paint for Russian ship decks but it was too red. So I decided to switch to the orangish red color from Pylox, a locally available brand. However, Pylox brushes very poorly (it is a very 'hot' paint and damages plastic easily) and there were difficulties touching up. The gray is Tamiya's Gunship Gray, toned down with weathering powders. Some details were made more accurate based on a checklist of kit errors found in an Internet forum. Other errors were left as is.
