This is the first kit I ever gave up on. So poorly manufactured. The majority of the parts are molded in black, including the engine, which needs to be red. There was so much flash on the parts that it was literally difficult to tell where the actual pieces started so as the properly cut it off. And the worst part, the part that finally got me to give up, was the front suspension. Made up of a dozen or so long thin parts with all the structural integrity of wet noodles. and after those dozen delicate parts are finally put together, what i the next step? To try to squeeze the front wheels onto the "axle". Even trying to do this very gently pretty much exploded the entire suspension, breaking pieces in half and while I maybe could have salvaged it, this kit is of such poor quality that if didn't deserve it. For anyone that wants to make this kit, and doesn't mind the black molding (which IS good most of the time) and excess flash on the sprues, do yourself a favor, and when it comes to the front suspension, put the tires on the axle first, while you can just push them on directly. It may make it a little more difficult to add in the rest of the suspension pieces, but hopefully you will have an easier time of things than I did.

Yes, You will run into that with a lot of the Monogram kits, most of the molds are 40-50 years old so it makes for lots of flash. A good white primer ( I prefer Tamiya, it's lighter and thinner) will take care of any "Molded in color" issues you may encounter and resolve most problems with your coloring.

I managed to deal with the black molding using multiple thin coats of red, and I think I did a pretty good job of slicing away most of the excess plastic. It really was the silliness of the order for the front suspension that broke both my model and my will.
