A small update here ... engine took my a while to get fitted in the fuselage. Didn´t work precisely enough so I got paid off when I tried to put the engine in. Anyway I solved it somehow without any major visible impact.

I gotta. say that I really appreciated there build posts that people share; its a real treat to see a bunch of plastic and such come together into a masterpiece! I learn so much from watchings.

Glad you solved the hurdle. Any ideas why the engine did not fit, or what the issue was?

Great work Thomas!
Really impressed of your clean build and how you apply thiny amount of glue on all delicate small PE parts without creating a mess.

thank you all for your kind words - I really appreciate that and this motivates me to constantly push myself out of the comfort zone .... thanks thanks thanks!!!! @Neuling: I know your skills so I´m really glad you came around my build: the answer is patience and a glass of good wine 😆 @Alec: as you can see the engine comes in a lot of tine parts and I didn´t pay enough attention when removing the print support and grinding the parts down properly. This resulted in a too long engine assembly. Lucky my I always spend a lot of time on dry-fits so I recognized it before starting to glue it in. Almost complete front end is made of printed parts and slightest deviations result that engine cowlings won´t fit together. Not a must to have them completely align when you show them open but I want to paint the all in one and then open the cowlings once done ...

@Trez: as you may have seen in previous comments, the most important thing is to really carefully sand all components down. Tend to say do a little more. There are many components coming together (assembled engine itself, manually modified fuselage, printed cowlings, ... ) and should fit properly in the end to avoid any gaps or twists in the final assembly. I think it would be tricky even in bigger scale. 1/72 scale has no mercy in this complex assembly of the plane front end. I managed it, but didn´t upload any pictures here so stay tuned 😊

After a longer break on this I was finally able to restart on this build. Main engine components placed in fuselage, rivets added (as much as possible on this scale) and hydraulic tubes adde to landing gear. Now a bit of tedious work ... sanding and preparation for primer. Not much but in tricky places.

Good choice 👍 I apply the primer with a H&S Evolution, 0.4mm nozzle and about 1-1.2bar pressure. Thinning ratio about 40/60

Last weeks I was fighting ... fighting with myself to keep this model from trashing it. Almost by accident I learned that I planned to build it not historically correct. This plane didn't have cowling MG's, but everything was planned to display them. So I had to make a decision and decided to go historical correct and change parts on an almost completely painted model.
It was a fight in 1/72 ... some imperfections I successfully ignored in earlier building stages now payd off and made it really hard for me. It's not perfect yet and it won't be perfect ever, but I have some ideas to improve the remaining imperfections.
Definitely not a competition model anymore...

The eduard kit is close to perfection - all issues I had were selfmade. The only concern, but a really small one is the orientation of the langing gear bay components. You have to be careful and put the parts together carefully almost by eye. If you dont put them in exact position it will lead to gaps between upper wing and fuselage (at least on one side). There could be better positioning. But nothing to worry ir you work precisely

Thanks @Frank!! I´m blushing, but I'm not sure if I ever show it on a competition ... in my opinion it´s not a competition model. Maybe I´m wrong ... I don't know. I´m a beginner with 6 finished models so I will have some more to present in the future .... but thanks for your motivating words - I appreciate it a lot 🙃

Take my word on it Thomas, that is a show winner and maybe even best in show. If this is the quality at 6 kits looking forward to see your work in the future.
All the final pics are incredible. You should make a display base for it.

When I got a photo showing a Pz. I towing a Ju-87, possibly on an airfield in North Africa, I definetely want to build that scenery. The Pz. I is a mix of parts from S-Model Pz. I Ausf. A and B, the Ju-87 is Italeri. I bought some Quickboost add on parts which are designed to fit the Airfix kit, but with slightly modifications they although fit quite well the Italeri kit.

Thank you Tom and Alec. SSMODEL only has a shop at AliExpress. I was a bit hesitant to order there, because there is a lot of rumor about piracy products over there. But once I did not found something similar I want to order from them I registered and ordered at AliExpress. Payment was easy via PayPal and delivery absolutely in time. I also ordered one of the SSMODEL vehicles, Marder III Sd.Kfz.139 SSMODEL 1:72 72725. The details are top notch, but the printing quality in between excellent and poor. The chassis, tracks and single parts are excellent, but the gun mount and gun shield are not so nice. The gun mount is warped and the gun shield has a lot of steps on the inner and outer side. It also differs from the instructions where gun mount and shield are shown as separate parts but it was delivered as a single part. That makes it even more complicated to solve the issues. But I think I will give it a try for another scale 1/72 kit in the future.
Here the link to the shop:

WIP painting the Ju-87. Underside in RLM65 Hellblau is done as well as RLM70 Schwarzgrün. Depicting the references I have, the paint seems to have a weathered look, which I took in consideration by highlighting the basic paint.
Next will be the camo with RLM71 Dunkelgrün and a white band on the rear of the fuselage.

WIP on my Ju-87 scenery. I rrplaced the First to Fight Pz.I by the one from S-Model but replaced the tracks by 3D printed ones from SSMODEL.
That will come together nicely with a nice contrast in between all of the colours, sand brown Pz.I and the Ju-87 with a standard camouflage in green.

There is a lot of masking needed to paint the Ju's splinter camouflage.
I did not masked and sprayed it in one loop, but step by step. For me it works much better in that way.
Only the rear fuselage and tail end is missing. So I have a plan for tomorrow 😁

And the final one I wanted to finish for SMC 2024. A Pz.I towing a Ju-87.
The diorama is based on an original photo taken in North Africa in spring 1941 by a member of Panzerregiment 5. Less is known about the incidence, but it seems the Ju-87 has to make an emergency landing and was now towed by the little Pz.I out of harms way. According to my research and the help of a modelling friend who has a main interrest in Junkers aircraft, the Ju-87 B2 seems to be a machine from II. Gruppe 8./SG2 with the marking T6 + BR.
The Pz.I was built out of the S-Model kit, the Ju-87 is Italeri. Figures are White Stork. Painting was done using acrylics and oils. The wooden base was made by Roland Dörrich.

I've been checking my sources. It turns out it's not a Stuka, but a BF 109, with its rear end on top of a truck. 😎

Brilliant! It astounds me how well you have painted the figures, you can see the muscle tone! 😮

I really wish that they release that beast in 1:72. Until then I follow the bigger ones. Looking at your first pictures I am sure this will be fun.

Welcome @Zsolt and DuperScale and thanks for your interest in this build. I was able to finish first step of cockpit section. 3D printed seats fit well into tracks even of they are designed to be glued on the plastic. I used Eduard PE tracks. Dashboard also made with PE. PE seat belts were planned but I felt they are too flat so I ordered Kelik 3D decals - they are better in my opinion.

@Michael: nice to see you here and glad you have fun 🤩 ICM plans to release the 1/72 in 2025 as far as I know and I have a good idea for a nice diorama. But definitely have to do this in 1/72 ... that thing is really big ...

Oh. Didn't know that. Those are good news.
You might be aware of two CH-54-builds in 1:72 based on the ol Revell kit which are absolutely stunning (with fire fighting equipment).
But now it's your stage. Cockpit looks very nice.

I think I know at least one of them 😝 . This build is supposed to be the military version operated in Vietnam - no extras except the tons of aftermarket I´m going to use

Interesting pick for a 10 day challenge. But I guess it wouldn't be a challenge without a challenging kit. Best of luck.

Hi Kesa,
a Leo 1 at the Berlin Wall is a nice idea and I am curious about the connection your family has to this idea.
I don't wanna spoil the project and I may stand corrected, but to the best if my knowledge there were never any German tanks in Berlin between the end of the second world war and the german reunification. The tanks were American, russian, british and french.

The project and my family are completely unconnected just wanted to mention it.
I am aware that there werent any german tanks in berlin but i just found this leo for a cheap price and decided why not, i also dont think there were JGSDF iraq assistance teams in berlin at the time but the fun thing about this hobby is that i can do whatever i want so again decided it would add a nice touch to the dio

Nice work Kesa, it is your best so far. The tools on the tank are particularly well painted.

I am taking it slowly, sire. If i ever do surpass master Gorby then it will take years, decades, millenniums maybe.

"Master" me? There are many, many more on here with infinitely more skill.
If you stick with modelling Kesa you'll surpass me in a couple of years easily judging by your recent progress.
Well done on your diorama, it looks good. 👍

That’s the cab mostly done other than the colouring-in of course. There’s plenty more pointless faffing about to do.

What a beautiful scratch you're doing in such a small kit. This is Unbelievable 😮 at least for a person with tired eyes like me. Do you use a microscope? 😄

Rui, these days I can barely find my work bench without my optivisor. 😄 😄
David, I do it because I like the challenge as well...and I can't write symphonies. Scratch-building in 1/72 also gives me a chance to practice swearing. I'm getting quite good at it now. 😳
Thanks all for tagging along. 🙂
