RonaVery impressive built! I think the most noticeable issue of the academy kit is the main landing gear. The legs are way too long (2mm) and the MLG doors are too massive. But this is relatively easy to fix. Following!

Mr DDo you use copper wire??
I was watching a YouTube vid and the guy was using the wire out of sandwiches bag ties, you know the type they twist to hold new electric cables ect.
It looked ideal for simulating wiring n break lines ect.
Nice job on the seatbelt's looking good 👌

Davy VosHi Trev! Sorry for the late reaction, I must have missed your message completely. What I use most of the time are Evergreen polystyrene profiles (rods and squared), lead wires (scalemodel product) and spare parts. If you have those, all you need left is a good CA glue. Begin with adding a few details, and try to expand it every build. That way you'll keep the process and learning curve fun 😊👍🏻

FridayAgainFeeling lucky to have gotten this kit, been out of stock for a looong time (2015 kit) - was checking the MFH website as I do, seeing the usual kits that have been in stock for months, when I refreshed and saw one solitary unit come in stock out of nowhere. Not sure what the story is as it doesnt seem they did a new run, just one put up. I had to have it, and here it is. Absolutely massive kit, came in at 9 pounds according to fedex, all my other kits from Hiro have been about 4. You can see it absolutely dwarf the BT52 box on the desk. Very excited to start this project probably sometime next year.

ChrissweI very much admire your work Jörg. You show what an expert can do with the 1:200 scale. Adding crew also makes a big difference for large scale ships. You make me consider building a 1:200 ship but first I must improve my skills and train my patience for a year or longer project 🙂

Chrisswe. That's right, the crew breathes life and depth into the model and also illustrates what a large ship this is.
I would be very happy if I could inspire you with my favorite scale. And when I see your outstanding Tirpitz, I don't think it will take you that long to start such a mega project.

ChrissweMy German is a little rusty but I think I can follow you report. I'm eyeing the USS Enterprise (CV-6) for a 1:200 build. It will probably not be too hard to start such a project but hard to finish it😅.
