F-117A Stealth Nighthawk
I cut all the control surfaces of the wings.
And I also cut the vertical fins.
The fuselage is glued together and the cockpit is installed.
The cockpit is occupied by a member of the PJ Productions family: an F-16 jockey that fits pretty good in this cockpit as well.
Painting started with a black primer coat.
Started an attempt to create some pre-shading. Or is there an other term for this?
Anyway, it is to get some variety in the all black surface. This is the result after the first coat of Vallejo 71.251 NATO-Black.
The same on the underside.
And this is after a second thin coat of NATO-Black. The picture doesn't show the end result so well. The live view looks better.
A bit more close up.
Working on the landing gear bays.
Started with applying the decals.
I used a set of Microscale instead of the original decals.

Decalling is ready and quite satisfied with the result.
The decals are very thin and don't show any silvering.

After another gloss coat, I'm now working on some slight weathering.
Okay, and then after a coat of extra flat varnish the landing gear is completed...
...and installed, together with the doors.
All of a sudden, the kit is completed.
I'm quite satisfied with the result.
At the moment I'm working on a small base to display it.

The small base is ready and the F-117 can be displayed on it.
As you can see, it is made of a small photo-frame.

As a little bonus, some pictures of the kit displayed on the base.

A trip down memory lane.
I got this kit some 30 years ago as a gift to a subscription on "Airplane - Aviation Encyclopedia". It was about the same time some F-117's were deployed to Gilze-Rijen AFB in the Netherlands for excercise Coronet Havoc.
This was of course a big sensation, especially for the Dutch airplane spotters.
So, I reckoned that it's about time to build this kit.
