Razor, do you use watercolors on your models? If so, how do you use them? I noticed what looks like watercolors in the background of your Corsair pic.

I could imagine, he´s using watercoloures for washings and weathering. And Malte, am i right?🙂

Yep, Holger you are right! I like the fact that you can remove all weathering if something went wrong. 🙂 I apply the clearcote to the model to seal the decals and then I start applying watercolors to the areas where I want to do a washing (you can see it in progress on the top side of vertical stabilizer in 1st pic). Now I wait until they're dryed out and then I take a humid rag to carefully remove the color again. Must be really careful with that to asure not cleaning the engraved areas to.

Making good progress with the Corsair. All parts of armament are placed weathering is almost done. Will remove the mask from the canopy now. 🙂 Always a "big" moment for me.

Done! 🙂 had to polish the canopy and windscreen due to minor spay, but turned out fine. Made it worth to purchase 12000 sandpaper. =)
Now I have to add two antennas, the lights (clear parts) and one or two small weathering-details, then it will leave my desk and even my house.

That Corsair is really driving me nuts! Trying to attach an antenna made of thin wire. 5th try now. Either it drops off or it sags to much or or or. If this try doesn't fall off I'll keep my hands off it, no matter how much it sags. LOL Added a picture of the 3rd try.

That is why I am scared of building bi-planes! All those rigging wires! Keep at it, I know you'll succeed with the Corsair antenna. The models look great!

There are so much models on the web showing those small wires perfectly in suspense, I guess some day I'll find somebody introducing me into the art of "wiring". 🙂

If the wire has an attachment point on the fuselage, I drill a very small indentation where I will put the superglue, and then put the tip of the wire in. This prevents you from getting a "puddle" of supeglue on the surface of the model. I'm sure others can give you some better advice!

Shipmodellers like make the "wires" from stretched sprue. After it's glued in place you can tension it by holding a hot piece of metal to it. Here I found a nice step by step manual: shipmodels.info/mws_...php?f=4&t=37536

Nice manual! I use small diameter nylon thread now, but stretched sprue is better I think. I can never get it to have a consistent diameter though. There is a market waiting to be served for us folks who would like to buy constant diameter stretched sprue on a roll!

Thanks for the link ice! Will give it a try. Do you have some experience for it? Does it also work for distances about 20 or 25cm?

I never used it for larger distances but you could try it out on a big empty sprue.

FINISHED the Corsair now. Not really happy with the outcome of the antenna - has a lot of sag but it works for a first-time. Took some pictures now, this bird will leave my house this sunday.

Malte do you have used fishwire for the antenne? then you can put a metall object that you have warm um with a sigaretlighter and put it close to the fishwire, it will shrink, you can do that till the result is good, don't put it against the wire or you will have a problem, do it nice and easy and it will work out, greetz Phil

Phil, I used a very thin metal wire ( part of a security-system cable ) for the antenna. Thanks a lot for your description, I'll definately try fishwire the next time, I love the possibility to bring it in suspense after glueing it in place!

Look out for the "Uschi van der Rosten" rigging line! That seems to be good stuff!
