This project started differently. After almost a month in hospital I was able to finish my workbench. I had decided to finish changing my workspace before starting a new project. So that was the first bite.
You can probably do without Ikea, but the legs from there were the easiest solution.
This is the moment when I was already happy.
Once I had all the tools in order I could start on the models.
I have made airplanes with smaller wings than these horizontal stabilizers.
The color for the interior isn't the most accurate, but a little of it is showing first. Second, after a tour of the shops in Sofia, I didn't find much more suitable. Actually, in the end I chose the XF-65.
I had prepared a lot of metal. I was even a little worried about the amount of it. This is the old set from Eduard.
Yellow for the tips of the propellers.
Olive green for the bombs.
Black for various other parts. In fact, they will be painted in metallic colors later.
The bombs aren't great, but I have no desire to make them better. According to doctors, being nervous is part of my illness, so I try to enjoy the project and not be too demanding about my work.
3D decals are great. I'm starting to prefer them to metal. By the way, there are some bugs in the cockpit. These aviators are at least 3 meters tall.
Resin would probably be better, but I still like them.
Rear cabin in color, even slightly soiled. Why don't they clean up after themselves?
The decals are pleasing to the eye.
Work Desk version 2.0
There's a lot of room for clutter.
The housing fits very well.
The wings too. Unfortunately I have to give up my beloved Earl Grey. This is going to be one of the hard things as I heal.
Don't ask me why I have so much foam in my warehouse.
And so. We start with the interesting part. I promise not to get angry. The million dollar question is, "Why do Hobby 2000 make worse masks than I do?"
The size cannot be made bigger because of the material. The PVC film, especially when it is a monomer adhesive shrinks. Oramask 811 is just right for masking, but after a year the cracks will be big. I have seen similar ones with a size difference of over a millimeter.
After a little more work I figured out who was at fault. The mistake is stupid. I guess someone didn't put all the masks on the model. The transparent nose detail is not symmetrical. In 1991, it was a technical achievement to make such a matrix. Now we just have to check our work. And I'm not nagging. I also have mistakes with the masks I make, but usually the next day I have them already corrected. My process is slow, the models are at home, the cutting plotter is at work.
I gave up on putting in many of the metal parts. I hope this is a temporary mood of mine. Fortunately, I quickly found someone to give them to. I'll even get an old Airfix Marauder kit in return.
At this stage I am this far. Primer is waiting for me.
Being a newbie to metallics, I chose an experimental plane from the scrap.
