It takes around 40g of weight in the nose to balance it, according to the instruction. I used less, but I plan to display it swimming anyway.

Of course the machine gun barrel broke off while handling the fuselage. A aluminium tube replaced it well.

After estimated 143 coats of paint (brushpainted) i finally have the surface I needed.

I decided to take the "quick and dirty" approach for the wheels. Making a small block from Balsa wood sheets and glue all in with CA glue.

Voilá!

Why, Academy? Just.....why? *sigh*

The misprint is especially annoying because the decals are actually very nice and easy to apply.

Removing the masks is always a blast. 🙂

Very few details still missing (the ones I was afraid to snap off) - but completion is near.

for a moment I was wondering what you meant on 14.... then I realized the thin white line is not supposed to be there.... crap, pitty because otherwise it is a really good looking decal. maybe remove it and request a new ser from Academy?

Clear coat it and use a circle cutter to mask the rest of the decal and touch up with the base color?

Thanks for your suggestions, mates. I guess my skill level is not sufficient to correct such a small mlstake from the manufacturer. I decided I'll live with it. It just seemed odd to me because all in all this is a very good kit.

I think it would be worth writing a polite letter to the manufacturer

Album info

Took a while to decide what to do with it. My plan is now to build a small base and show it swimming. The insteucrions only cover a build with landing gear down, so I have to figure out myself what to do with the wheels.
