Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate "Frank"
Overview of the Tamiya Nakajima "Hayate" kit.
I chose the blue/green metallic protection for the interior.
Engine and interior assembled.
Fuselage closed.
The kit instructions show that the control panel decal must be cut in half for application on the fuselage sides. By pure luck I managed to have it in the exactly right place.
Detail of the engine.
Fuselage with Tamiya putty applied, Next step: sanding and rescribe
Wing attached to fuselage, and prepared for silver painting
I used some tooth pick and PVA to keep the model bottom part for touching the ground during painting
Painted aluminum. Intend to use hairspray technique for chipping

Painting Japanese propeller colors takes lots of tape!

Now it's time to prepare the diorama base
Almost done, Base and airplane.
Bottom of the model, with heavy weathering, as I tried to depict a Japan air defense plane, at the WW2 end.

The Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate (キ84 疾風, lit. "Gale") is a single-seat fighter flown by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service in the last two years of World War II. The Allied reporting name was "Frank"; the Japanese Army designation was Army Type 4 Fighter (四式戦闘機, yon-shiki-sentō-ki). The Ki-84 is generally considered the best Japanese fighter to operate in large numbers during the conflict.
The Tamiya kit was from a half a century mold, but I like it very much.
