Su-34 Fullback Fighter Bomber build log

After unpacking all the sprues, what's left in the box is the actual plane...
What's in front is all the weaponry, which seems a little excessive to put it mildly.... o_0

And I'm not gonna use any of that: I always keep my machines clean 🙂 

This Hobby Boss kit provides everything you need inside with walls already in place, for scratch building this kitchenette area above the crew access ladder.
Not that you'll be able to see a lot of it after the bird is done, but I'll know it's there :-P 

Building some structures inside 

Also built the 'stove' 🙂 Now for all the wiring and equipment boxes 

Added a bunch of cable booms 

And let's do the door as well while we're at it 🙂 

This is a massive aircraft... o_0 

Very frustrating when there's broken parts in your expensive kit :-/
Especially when it's the front wheel axle.
Bad quality control: the broken off part wasn't even in the sealed bag. 

Had just the right diameter metal rod lying around to fix this luckily 🙂 

While we're at it.... installing more cable booms: in the main wheel wells. 

I thought that after putting aside all the weapons sprues, there wasn't much left in the box.... but I've been pre-building assemblies for two days straight now :'-D
Anyway, the lot in the back are ready for paint. 

Looks much better with a bit of paint 

Especially these happy blue colours in Russian cockpits 

The crew access space turned out very nice 🙂 

Mounted to the lower fuselage now. Things are starting to take off B-) 

And now hidden inside... 😉 

Quinta cockpit vinyl is just sooo good 

Time to throw a bunch of parts together and make it look like a plane 🙂
The legs is just dry fitting for now 

And it looks like it's gonna fit on my lower shelves which I hadn't expected 🙂 

Put in the seats, the door and the HUD 

So cockpit is now finished.... 

....time to close the hatch 🙂 

The kit nozzles are actually very nice 

Maybe a bit deeper grooves between the 'feathers' would have been nice 

Time for primer 🙂 

I'd thought I'd do the sensible thing and use the gear doors as masks... cause masking these would have been a pain otherwise, and they'll get painted in the process :-P 

Bottom colour is on. Kept the gear bays nicely clean  

Whilst airbrushing it's important to not get distracted.... :'-) so as to not start painting the wrong side 

The beast has been painted 🙂 

Did something potentially stupid on a freshly painted bird o_0 

But it needed a real navigation light

And put it up its feet, temporarily... 🙂 

As expected you'll hardly see the entrance area 

It is absolutely huge! The Tornado looks like a gnat next to it :'-D 

Finally peeling off the masks to discover that the windows had fogged up a bit on the inside :'-(
