Fording ability would be more about the height of the intakes, and your desire or otherwise to get wet feet. Consider the high level intakes on off-road land-rovers as an example. IN which case 72" might be possible I guess

72" is correct; the full water-proofing of the engine, including sealing all parts of it's 24V electrical system is shown in this war dept video: Youtube Video ... a neat truck. Nice model Curtis.

Love the discussion. Building scale models brings history alive and this discussion certainly proves that. My Dad was 3rd Armored Division in the Korean conflict working as an operating engineer. He didn't like MASH 4077 because he said all his tucks had canvas tops. This 2-1/2 ton transport and 5 ton wrecker both have the canvas tops, so they remind me of my Dad.

Saw this vehicle on Yukon Men. On the TV show the village faced flooding as the ice broke loose on the river and the one guy said that this truck saved them as they were able to cross the river even with the water up to the floor of the cab.
