pff, nice paintjob, how did you do the black lines between the colors? Or did you completely paint this one by hand?

Wow, What an unusual vehicle.!!!
I have never even heard of this before, and what I am seeing is amazing. Beautiful, if you can call something like this beautiful, but I am referring to the build. Super impressed. 🙂

Nice one! 👍 I'm working on the same kit with the same camouflage.
However, I left out the black outlines and chose the wrong colour for the running gear. I mgiht have to cover it with "dirt"...

Thank you Bart,Kerry and Frank. French designers sure knew how to make ugly ducklings already in 1916...I painted camo by hand. I cheated with black outlines. I used thin permanent marker for those. 😉

Wheel done, nice colour scheme and weathering... 👍 That's not cheating Veli, it's the best way of doing it...;) @ Frank, In Eighteen Collectors Edition Military Vehicle Special, 3rd April 2015 Issue, from Military Modelling, the HobbyBoss 1:35 scale kit for this French WW1 Tank, is shown in a nice article built by Steve Zaloga...

Lovely build and painting with a restrained weathering. I'm tempted by this myself, yes it's extremely fugly as only the French can manage but then the camouflage pattern is just as beautiful as yet again only the French know how to create it.

I use it a lot to separate the rubber tires from the wheels or rims, I find it better and safer than with brushes... 😉

Steve -
Very well done! the look is right on. Your idea of the black marker is perfect solution for a tricky part of the paint scheme.
For those unfamiliar with these tanks, they were the first French tanks built for WW I along with another, the St. Chamond, both types were camouflaged with all the flare the French are known for .
Again, VelluS, great looking build.

I agree with all the compliments above. Really like the French camo patterns and great job brush painting and marker is the best solution. 👍

Hi Veli-Matti... I like it and it's very well made, something very different👍
Does remind me of the JAWA'S Scrap metal vehicle in Star Wars though😄

Thanks for your comments everyone! 🙂 I found out that black marker thing from another site and decided to give it a try. Haha Steve! Now I know too where they got ideas for those wacky vehicles in Star Wars movies. 😄

@Urban, Not all. The Faber-Castell felt pen, for instance and other's don't bleed through. The ink is permanent, dries immediately and is resistant to thinners... 🙂

Nop... The ink is permanent, dries immediately and is impervious to all thinners.

Thanks for the warning Urban. There is a coat of gloss clear and flat clear over the camo. I hope that marker wont bleed through. I guess I will find that out in couple of weeks. :/ Thank you Scott. I´m glad you like it.

You also might want to see Mark Bannerman 1:35 scale Light Amphibious Tank A4E12 from IMA Models in the Eighteen Collectors Edition Military Vehicle Special, 3rd April 2015 Issue, from Military Modelling. I've been using STAEDTLER pigment liner and Water resistant and UNI pin fine line water and fade proof pigment ink, in my last projects and didn't have any problems...🙂 Maybe the problems (sharpie pre-shading bleeding through) shown are caused by the primer used and not the markers... @ Veli in your project as in Mark Bannerman and also on mine, the marker is used over the camo and not over the primer so we will see...;)

Thanks for your encouragement Rui! 🙂 I just remembered I have used same marker to number parts in my other projects. Markings were left under primer and paint. No bleeding through so far...

That's good! But most permanent markers do bleed through so it's a hazardous practise.

Thanks for bringing this bleeding through issue up Urban. I would have never thought of that. From now on I sand away any markings before painting. Just to be sure. 🙂

It's better to be safe. Another way to do it is to use a pencil for any markings before painting and that is safe to overpaint.

Hi Veli-Matti, how are your models painted with markers?
@ Choppa you should read this thread..

"Does remind me of the JAWA'S Scrap metal vehicle in Star Wars though 😄"
Yeah me too, nice build and camo pattern 🙂
Also an interesting discussion on marker pens as I've just used it on a couple of models for a preshade effect.
I seem to have managed to control the bleed through by putting the ink down first, primer coats, let it bleed through and dry for a few days to lock it into the paint and then using mostly water to thin the next layers. which has been on for a week now ish and the bleed through seems to have stayed where it is on both models 🙂
The trick seems to be laying the ink on first abd allowing the primer coat to lock the bleed into the paint with a few days drying before the next layers go down. If I can't see any change in the next weeks I shall consider the experiment a success 😄
Interesting ratmodelling link Urban btw. 🙂

Beautiful model!👍
Nevertheless I would recommend to adjust the automatic white balance of your camera. 😉

Hobby Boss kit straight from the box. Nice kit to build. Tracks were bit tricky though.
