Started this one last year when it first came out. But got bugged down and boxed it back up. After completing my Kitty Hawk F-86D i resurrected it and this is where i am now.
I sprayed it natural metal with a tamiya spray can as a base for some maskol chipping.

Started painting the camouflage by first applying some maskol here and there and doing the pre-shading. Then i painted the underside. Next up is the camouflage pattern on top and the invasion bands.

Finally got around airbrushing the invasion bands. It took more time taping everything up then it took me to paint them.

Started painting the markings. Lots of masking, but well worth it in the end. Next up are the codes.

Thx everyone.
Moving ahead slowly. Finally got around taking some more pics of the weathering. If everything goes to plan this one will be finished in time for Modelforce 16 next may. I'm planning to enter it in the contest together with my F-86D.

I like the technique of the metal paint as the base, as it beats the hell out of trying to get that 'chipped' look with dry brushing.
I do the same with all my armour. 🙂
A most handsome looking beast Eric. Well done. 👍 🙂

Very nice work on the big bird. Looks much convincing.
By the way, an interesting book, written by a Typhoon pilot who served in a Typhoon Squadron during WWII.

Nice one, shouldn't there also be an antenna wire behind the canopy, straight up?

Good call Bart. Yet another antenna i still have to put on it. With one month to go to the contest i think i will just make it. Seeing how fast i am on the modelling front.

Thx everyone.
Guido, good idea and knowing that there is an aerodrome around the corner from where i live it is something i could do. The only problem is that 'm a lazy bugger. Maybe one day...

If lazyness results in such a great build like this, i will be lazy too! 😄

I like the weathering very much. Especially the subtle streaking aft of the oilcooler is beautiful executed.

Started this one last year but got stuck. Resurrected this project after having finished my Kitty Hawk F-86D.
