Thank you Christian, I will be making two 'con rods' that will protrude from the crank case, and without making a watch, it should look believable. 🙂
I currently have about 10 of these magnificent little bikes as I am working out a diorama of some of them all waiting to be serviced and have minor repairs done. 🙂

Thanks guys, 👍 I have had a good look on Google and I have never seen one either, just like the B-17 I did. 🙂 Then again, it's more fun being different, just ask Choppa. 🙂 🙂

Rui, G'day my friend and good to see you mate. 🙂
Thank you so much for the reference images and they are exactly what I am looking for too. 👍
I have tool boxes and an overhead hoist frame on order along with assorted spanners and tools to scatter around on the work benches.
Again Rui, your a wealth of vital information.👍 🙂
Cheers mate. 👍

Kerry, your way of doing the spokes and wheels (version 2) is very clever. Don´t know if I will do another one, but must remember this approach then.

Well Kerry that`s a good idea for sure! I owned a 45 Flathead many years ago. It was slow but nice! Loved that foot clutch and the 3 speed transmision operated by hand. At first it had the original linkert carburator but I changed it to a Mikuni one from Japan. The rest of it was free style 🙂
Here are some pics of it:

Germen, all bites are welcome, but be gentle. 🙂 LOL
I think I might be seeing some other WLA bike appearing here on SM soon, and I wont be surprised, because once you have done one, you will want to do more. 👍
A most infectious little kit, mainly because of it's complexity, then all that amazing detail. 🙂
I am totally addicted. Mwahahahahahahahahaha !!!! 🙂 👍

very nice to follow the ingenious construction 👍

Jens, I am so glad some one agrees with my madness LOL. 🙂
If I had not seen these images from WWII, I would have just built my models OOB and left it at that, but what gets me doing this is mostly the detail in the kits, and it would be an insult to the guys who made the dies, NOT to do anything with them. :-/
I always try and build a model from the spectators point of view, like, "It would blow my mind if I saw (da da da da da) on a comp table some time.", and then, come up with something totally unseen or done before. 🙂
I try. 👍 🙂

Very cool and complex idea sir. You have to know your engines to do such a project. Should be interesting when done for sure!

Donald, I have skinned many a knuckle on the bikes I have owned over the years LOL, And I just hope my memory serves me well on this lot. 🙂
My skills will be tested more on picking out the detail on the WLA's now I have blanketed them with paint. :-/

Acki, I am hoping that you get a great result with your kit, and there are plenty of images, just like what Rui keeps finding, os all kinds of material, and you will find that a lot of the MiniArt box art is from the photos you can find on the net. Have fun. 🙂 👍

Kezza, I think about how to paint the black tyres. So far I think I will get them a coat of black (tyre black) primer first, before offering them to the frame. Should be harder to paint them black when build in?

Thomas, I will be painting mine like they are all dusty and been through mud, so the only part of the tyres that will be "Black" will be the tread pattern with the remainder of the tyre some what brownish. So the tread pattern will be 'dry brushed' with the black.

Looking forward to see this!
Did glue or fix some airbrush holder on mine, to be primed with Stylinrez (or however this is spelled...) maybe tomorrow. Will be followed with some LifeColor Tyre Black after this primer.

Oh, Thomas, that just reminded me of the MP I have dressed in "Full rig", the one who has the white gloves in his epaulet and the brown leather leggings. His bike is for escorting high ranking officers around (Presumably Berlin), well, I painted the whole bike OD followed with a clear cote and the rims white with aluminium buffing metalizer on the spokes and totally black tyres, painted before I put them in the front forks. And it looks a totally different animal from the usual WLA's.

Rui, Thank you for that link mate and I must let you know, I have got just about all the images of WWII WLA's possible, and my Dad had one for years that I have pictures of from his album when he was in Japan as part of the British Occupation Forces in 1945/47. 🙂

Be welcome mate,
I found the "NO RANK" painted very curious when I stumble on it, and also the map "case" in front over the handlebars 👍

I am in the middle of a 1/35 scale diorama depicting the "Red Ball Express". A long base with a lot of activity, with mostly negro crew, as that was the feature of the RBE, all negro's.
I am taking pictures, but the camera I have converts the images into RAW format when JPG is what I want and the pictures won't load to the SM website.

Hi lads and lassies. Thanks for the come back. 🙂 Like the B-17 diorama, I want to create a lot of 'activity' even though I will have the convoy 'at a stand still' Interaction I guess you might say. I am buying a new camera today and all the base/ cobble stone street will be delivered from BNA. My go to shop for all my modelling needs. See you there. !

Your camera does not convert to RAW. RAW is the 'negative'. You can convert to Jpg from the RAW file.

Olivier, not being a computer savvy 76 year old i had no clue, even when I spoke to my comp guy, I was a lot happier to get something that I dont have to ponder over. But thank you for letting me know, 😉

Album info
I have effectively cut my WLA engine from the frame, drilled out the cylinders and crank case with the intention of making these components look like it is undergoing a major repair 'somewhere in Europe, on the way to Berlin.
