Those are two 136 l fuel tanks. F version was first super long range spit modification rebuilded from serial production Mk I before serial version PR Mk I D (later PR Mk IV) which got integral fuel tank in wing leading edges.

Album info

Many tens years old Airfix/Heller model which fully reflects time of 'birth' but very good looking spitfire by shape and dimensions and good baseline for final model.

No name conversion set of poor quality was used for conversion on PR version. Pavla Models conversion was in far future in time I started this model.

Baseline should be one of the first PR MkI F most probably rebuilded from serial Mk I during beggining of autumn of 1940 so airelons shall be canvas clothed. Fully metal airelons were introduced slightly later in serial production.
