Gracias Cuajete, that was exactly what I meant 🙂
But I just found, that the Valom's kit got the Irish roundels included, sorry 🙂

Duh, should have known that.
Actually, this was another impulse buy at a hobby shop. Never researched the kit.

Nearly forgot to add the pilots when glueing the canopy. Just in time I opened her up to get them in. Phew!

I just hope they're still visible after painting Lode. The Fouga has a big canopy, so something should be….

I'm thinking about finishing her with a satin varnish: not as shiny as new, but well maintained. Any thoughts?

looking good, the dayglow seems a bit strange, but otherwise a golden oldie in a very nice build...

I will pass on my thoughts when it is finished and has no shark mouth decorating it's nose!

Nice result, I'm always jealous of such sharp lines 🙂 But shouldn't it be hi-vis orange instead of red?

No Peter, I better just quit this hobby. Nothing will ever be done properly 😉
RE: the colour. The manual calls for Humbrol 209 Fire Orange. I don't have that one. I use several conversion charts, some of them give Gunze H98 as an alternative, which I also don't have. I found one chart only which gave bright red as an alternative. So I use Ammo's Clear Red over the aluminium. Not exactly hi-vis orange or Fire Orange, but with my paint, the closest I could get.
Łukasz, Kerry Cox introduced us to Parafilm M: Painting Swirls on propeller spinners using Parrafilm"M". | Album by RedRoo For this type of masking it gives a real sharp edge. It just needs something to 'bite' into. Like some panellines, or a canopy.

Martin, interesting subject. one I have never seen before. Very cool. 🙂
Parafilm is awesome, IF you use it in the right circumstances. I use it primarily for masking canopies, though it works fantastic when you have to fix a paint screw up after you have gotten all the decals on and set. It cover the decals perfectly and wont lift them off. I find it needs to be stretched before using, and some buffing it down to make sure it has a good seal at the edges.

Yes indeed!
Today I applied all the decals, added the handles on the nose, gave this girl her wheels.
After the satin varnish the canopy was demasked.
After three days of curing the red still coloured my brush while applying the decals. Strange but true.
To do: Add the clear piece in the nose, clean up the canopy, repaint the exhaust.

I rather like that red instead of the orange. 🙂 Looks good. 🙂
Oh, another thing I do with the parafilm on canopies is use a little liquid mask around the edges. Simply because I always mange to pull it up if I dont.

I don't know if the red is correct, but I like very much that metallized red.

right or wrong is a subjective matter.... you can probe that others where painted in orange, but it is hard to demonstrate there was never one in red 😛

I have never heard of the Fouga Magister before, no surprise there, but there is so much visual interest in such a tiny plane. Top job Marty! Love the metalised red as well. Might have been option "C" but has worked out very well. Congrats on a small but significantly shark-mouthless aeroplane.

Thank you gents. Peter, I like your C option. I'll keep that in mind for whenever I deviate from the beaten path again. Probably each next build 😉
Spanjaard, you're so right. I can't help it nobody ever took any pictures of the Magister with the red paint.....
As is my custom I created an album for the completed model. It can be found here: Fouga Magister Completed | Album by Mahoo76 (1:72)

Again thanks. Havar it just is a unique looking plane. Low slung, the V-tail, the large boxy canopy. Just special.

Once more I'm relegated to the kitchen table, instead of my building cave. Not the kids or the wife this time, but the heat evicted me.
