It is now one of the 'go to' competitions in Australia, and will be better once the conditions of participation are ratified. 👍

Nice photos, thanks for sharing Kerry 👍
Some of them look vaguely familiar😉
Just a question: what are the dots stuck to some of the models' ID cards?

The coloured dots are what the level of award is. Gold, silver and bronze. As at one stage the committee decided not to show what model was awarded anything to stop the modellers who missed gold from blowing their stacks, but it was decided to go back to the three level colour coded dots, mostly for the sake of the public, as they after all is why the 'show' is done in a public floor setting. To my way of thinking, it looks trashy and uncaring the way it is done, almost like an after thought really, just to shut the unhappy modellers mouths, as there have been some ugly moments where some modellers have, and with just reason, been verbally critical of just the club entrants winning all the awards, with modellers who have no club affiliation being totally ignored.
When filling out the details of one's model, the question of which club the competitor belongs to is asked, and that to some, immediately got a nasty reaction, making it look very biased indeed.
But sadly, it will obviously never be changed, when last year, it was done the way the modellers wanted the judging done, with only one club member as a judge with three 'other' people from other and differing clubs involved.
I hope that cleared the coloured dot question up for you Rene. 👍 🙂

I'm saying nothing. Well, I'll just say this... The Stug was a nice little build. I would be very proud of it if I built it. Gold? I would object if it were mine. I would also be questioning of the classifications. It would seem to me, from a casual observer's ummm, observation that some of the models were not actually sitting next to comparable builds. I don't know if they were judged against each other but ... ???

The mysteries of the glue sniffers association have deepened so it seems. :-/
Those with the answers are too affected by the fumes to give a straight or honest answer. 😉
But we live in anticipation.

Holding my breath I do not.

Glue sniffing might be an explanation for some. Hopefully not biased here... But the Ferrari with lots and lots of detail and the superfine bmf trims doesn't make top 3. Next picture... Plain white car with a shiny sticker next to it. I mean it is well done, good job on the gloss and all... Seems fishy though.
Thanks for clarification on that Kerry, I thought as much but wasn't sure.

Aside from the strange competition thingy, the important part is having fun and enjoying some awesome models. Which there were a lot of there, regardless of the sticker dots🙂

tjah, competition, it will always be a hard issue, as mentioned a few previous times. Weirdest things I've seen is one competitor winning as well in advanced category as in masters... How can you be both, maybe an advanced master, but... The one thing that I dislike the most is that certain clubs (or members) apply their club-logo to the model or even put the magazines in which the model appeared with the model... That should be forbidden, because it is an influencer none the less... And believe or not, it aren't always the nicest model, but hey, it's from that club or person, thus it should be good ...

Let's just say that some are better than others. And most are better than mine. I feel challenged!
Thanks Kerry!

I might have to go and hold the Arizona on my lap for Kerry to get her there!

She's just under 93cm when finished. You'll have to ride in the director's seat in the back!

93? Maybe I'd better bring a road train down!

Nah. Peter, we can sail her there. hahahaha :-0

Some great looking models there, Kerry! I really like the card model of the Piper Pawnee.
I would put my club affiliation as the "Scalemates International Modelling Community"!

Gordon, that is a great idea. But I heard a couple of judges commenting that any model that has been seen on social media should not be allowed to be in the competition, as it may 'sway' the judges in an unfair way. !!! FFS. 🙁

They do have a sense of humour, those judges.

Some great pics Kerry - thanks for sharing. And I am sad to hear about the continued issues with the competition. Although as Bart mentioned, there are issues with competitions wherever you go.

93cm model ship? Motorized, with lighting and all? 😮
Here I am sitting and wondering where to put my 32nd scale planes half that long. 😄 are houses affordable down under? 😛

Yeah that sense of humour is quite... uuumm interesting Martin 😄

Rane, Lode's next build will be a 1/200 Rodney. That one measures 108cm. How I know? I have it in the stash as well.....

Sooo... You basically rent a car paintshop to paint those monsters? 😄

OK, there were some SERIOUS injustices perpetrated on some folks there. I am surprised some judges werent strung up. I find it absolutely insane that anything like club affiliation is shown. That is not the appearance of bias, it 100% IS bias. I have plenty of issues with judges here at IPMS shows, but they seem like a right bunch of fair guys compared to what I am seeing there.
29 August 2018, 22:31
Kerry COX
Yes Donald, it was a bit distressing for some and much was said at the awards by those who stayed to watch them handed out.

The drowned Reisen is the best present for me. Very good at all.
