Airfix 1/24 Hawker Hurricane Mk.I
A man in search of a plane.
I'm quite pleased with how the pilot came out, although I woild have liked to have done the eyes a bit better! At least he's not cross-eyed. I seem to have spent more time painting him than the entire rest of the build took so far.
That wing'fuselage join is one that has come back to haunt me.
Scratch built fire control cables & solenoids. I see autofocus was working well for this one!
Note the nasty step between the top of the wing and the fuselage. This is even worse when the parts were stuck together. I sanded down as far as I dared but was staring to worry about going right through the plastic.
Anyone got any ideas about sticking the loop above the engine? It's a simple end to end join, which means there is a tiny area to stick. I've tried two different types of plastic cement, CA and harsh language. Sooner or later it comes apart again!
Primed and awaiting the fault finding session. You can still see the step where the wing meets the fuselage. They seem to have different profiles.
The cockpit is masked with a section of thin foam. It's easily cut to shape with scissors and thin enough to bend and wiggle into small gaps. I used it in the wheel well too.
The aerial mount on top of the rudder snapped off (of course). The replacement is a brass tube. The aerial will be made from a single strand of wire from a radio aerial off an old stereo. I managed to knock the tube off when I caught it on the edge of the table. Amazingly, I found it on the carpet. Again, the step on the wing jumps out at me!

To be fair, I've got the spit and the 109. This was a much better kit than both of them. You'll be fine buddy.

Good, I looked around and there's none of this issue any where
Except a Scalemate has one, I think

Picked this up for £20 from a local bookshop. Thought it would be a good one to practice on after 30 years away from the hobby!
