Bandai 1:8 scale Jaguar XK-E (E Type) build
The kit was in a pretty sorry state when i bought it, the box had obviously been stored under something heavy! Both windscreen pillars snapped and the whole shell was also badly twisted.
The kit was also a part assembled, unpainted glue bomb!
The box... faded but not terrible condition, considering the state of the kit inside!
There was also an extra servo added behind the dashboard, to be linked to the steering i think
After many, many hours of gradually manipulating it in close to boiling water, i got the shell back in to shape
First test on new replacement LED lights, linked to a remote keyfob
Stripped back down into parts
Terrible fit on the tailgate, bonnet & doors, probably because of all the reshaping the shell had gone thru!
Opened up the rear light apertures to take more LEDs
Made the rear light holders from old disposable razor handles! (they won't be seen on the finished model)
First shot of primer to get a feel for how the bodywork was shaping up
Adding under bonnet panels which are missing from the original kit
Another test on the LEDs
Testing how the engine block sits... too high for the bonnet to shut competely as it happens
Interior coming together, with RHD conversion
The clear parts are luckily in surprisingly good condition
First shot of colour & lacquer
Extra detailing begins
Next to a 1:24 Jag... it's a monster!
Cunning use of a bathroom tap filter for more extra detailing
Finally the colour & lacquer goes on the shell etc
Next to another future project, i seem to be a sucker for buying part built gluebombs!
It's been a long time coming, but i've finally got this to a stage where i'm gonna call it finished!
Remote operated LEDs all still working well
I managed to come by a part assembled Deagostini 1/8 Jaguar E Type incredibly cheap (£20!!) which included the real spoked wire wheels... those + a number of other detail parts have ended up on this car

Cheapest I've seen boxed & mint is 850 quid!!!
Doubt it will sell but some US collectors are asking for $2k

Yeah i've got 2 of them on my watch list, i've actually seen completed listings of around a grand, not sure how legitimate they were. I was actually looking for the Monogram/Revell kit when this popped up a couple of years ago, couldn't believe it when i picked it up for £37! I guess the state of it put people off
