Heller Volvo F12

Thanks guys. John, it's not uncommon for a truck chassis with everything on it to be sprayed in a single colour, but in this case it had more to do with the theme it was built for then anything else. Only thing I added after painting the plummed chassis is the electrical wiring, which remained black. In hindsight I could have painted the rubber air hoses to the brakes black, and maybe I will. I'm planning on scratching a trailer for it some time in the future so I'll probably revisit some parts of the Volvo then.

This is my rendition of Heller's Volvo F12. When I bought this kit I had no idea it's a snap-tite kit, it's not mentioned on the box. It wasn't what I expected and although you could probably build it up into a decent looking truck I decided to go down a different path. Most kit parts were ditched except for the cab (which is pretty good), wheels, mudguards and a couple of other parts. Almost every part was either built from scratch like the entire chassis (a first for me) or heavily modified and/or extended. The Globetrotter roof (which didn't match the box art) was cut down and changed into the low roof. I didn't build up the trailer as I didn't like it. I had fun doing it and I'm pleased with the outcome. This build was for a "Nordic" theme build hence the colour scheme and the cupboard assembly in the cab, in place of the driver's place to sleep.
