A friend has loaned me a laptop so I can get pictures off my camera (my PC blew up a while ago) so here are the sprue shots. More pics too come!
I have defenetly to join this build. Got this kit on my wishlist since a long time but it has never arrived my stash. Maybe this will change now...
I don't know enough about the aircraft to have been able to help out with your initial query, but it's off to a great start. 👍
Thanks guys, much appreciated comments. @James tks for the interest but I've made my choice, to late to go back! Problem now is that I've lost the bomb racks to the carpet monster ? If I can't find them I'll just have to close the doors off!
Well, really nice looking giant, I've seen real one in London and it is ucredibly huge. Perfect start👍, I'll follow the progress with great interest.
Was hoping to upload some progress pictures today but it decided to rain all day 🙁
Great start. Looking forward to the next batch. How is the kit fit etc. I've got this one and the MKI to get through it'd be good to know what awaits.
I'll put some pics up tomorrow, now it's decided to stop raining! So far no problems, typical Italeri.
Cracking build! Have you finished it? I'm looking to steal ideas for my SH Mk.III…really wish I'd gone Italeri on this subject!
Finished? Sadly I've barely started. A couple of weeks after getting started, I succumbed to long standing health problems. Thanks to Covid the doctors didn't fix my spine until November last year. My recovery is underway and going well.
@Andrea, I'm glad to hear you're making progress. The model awaits you when you're ready, and I'll still follow with interest. GWS!
Absolutely, Get Well Soon! Looking forwards to your progress again. All the best.
Also from my side get well soon Andrea. I was also sick for half a year and could no longer pursue the hobby. I hope it will be good again soon and you can go back to the working table.
Speedy recovery! I spent my Covid-19 making models. I follow the model!
Thank you all so much for your kind words, it does mean a great deal 😀 I have regained use of my left arm, so I'm getting there.
Album info
The Short S.25 Sunderland was a British flying boat patrol bomber, developed and constructed by Short Brothers for the Royal Air Force (RAF). The aircraft took its service name from the town (latterly, city) and port of Sunderland in North East England.
Developed in parallel with the civilian S.23 Empire flying boat, the flagship of Imperial Airways, the Sunderland was developed specifically to conform to the requirements of British Air Ministry Specification R.2/33 for a long-range patrol/reconnaissance flying boat to serve with the Royal Air Force (RAF). As designed, it served as a successor to the earlier Short Sarafand flying boat. Sharing several similarities with the S.23, it featured a more advanced aerodynamic hull and was outfitted with various offensive and defensive armaments, including machine gun turrets, bombs, aerial mines, and depth charges. The Sunderland was powered by four Bristol Pegasus XVIII radial engines and was outfitted with various detection equipment to aid combat operations, including the Leigh searchlight, the ASV Mark II and ASV Mark III radar units, and an astrodome.
