Su-100 construction
This went quick! Got here in one short evening. To slow down, ordered some PE from Microdesign, but now, after ordering, I'm not sure what I have actually ordered. Will it include fenders? Or just fuel tanks? Who knows!
Preparation for recently arrived Microdesign PE.
Probe fitting grilles, looks decent, might put a small bar from evergreen sprue underneath, just in case.
Cutting out more parts and grilles are installed.
Adding PE, some of these were a pain, my fingers are just not up to that task.
First time using the large PE bender from dspiae. The PE from Microdesign in is a bit thicker, so the thin edge took a while to get into a decent enough shape.
Dry-fitting one of the mud guards. Okay, much nicer than the plastic, though a lot of detail is missing - will be fun rebuilding it.
Installed the fuel tanks and pipes, attached the engine cover hinges. Hope I can move to painting soon, this one is taking so much longer than I expected.
Construction complete, ready to start painting. Tracks are still on sprues.
Primer applied, looks nice in black.
After pre-shading, applied a layer of base shade from a Mr Hobby Russian green set.
Whitewash is on, oils should unify the surface.
Tracks installed on one side, the other still to be done. Hopefully to be completed soon.

After spending way too much time on T-35 and F-104J, decided to go for something simple and quick. It went well enough that I made the mistake of ordering some PE and a metal gun barrel.

I'm quite happy with how opening the grilles went - razor saw and hobby knife were all that was needed and the cut looks clean enough.

Grilles look good, could use some additional soviet boot treatment 😉

Thanks Slavo and Oliver. The Microdesign PE is not bad at all! I like how it improves the model and now wish I went with one more extension set.

After the last comment, I ordered a second set for the mudguards. They are a bit tricky to bend into the right shape, but I think it looks quite ok. There was some additional details on the plastic that is now missing, let's see how it can get recreated.

Construction complete! Some PE parts were very fiddly, so I ignored some of the smaller pieces. Moving on to painting.

Thank you, Rui. Need to fix it with oils in a few places and on to weathering.

Adding final images, realized they were missing. Didn't realize I finished it in 2021!

Thank you Mr James! A lot more to learn before it gets anywhere close your Tiger!

Top work. Very considerate application of snow (none on the warm upper side of the engine). 👍

You made the Comrades from Soviet Uzbekistan proud!
seriously this looks pretty cool - the dark muddy wheels, snow in generally plausible areas and very winterly "wear & tear" - good job 👍

Thank you! My first whitewash, so a learning experience; e.g. didn't expect it to so quickly become grey with later layers of weathering, that took effort to fix. Overall, I'm quite happy and glad I went for a metal barrel - makes quite a difference and has now a proud place in my collection.
