This simple deck section was made with an aluminium plate.The aluminum board was first cut to the dimensions of an inexpensive photo frame. The tie-down holes were drilled and their gratings came from a "Flightpath" PE set. The weld lines of the deck were drawn with a dart tip and to simulate the weld I used stretched sprue formed with a flame heated blade.
I first painted white and red deck markings and masked them. After spraying a few shades of grays, I applied some filters. I used dry pastel powders to simulate rusting.
The anti-slip texture was suggested by a small amount of baking soda powder sprinkled between two coats of gray paint.
