the intended colour scheme (I'm not planning to buy new decals, so I'll use the ones from the box combined with a aluminium painted cowling)

Upper wing added, only glued on lower wing and fuselage. So I can remove the upper wing, touch up the struts and add the rigging, before finaly glueing the upper wing.

First parts of the rigging in place.
I tried the 0.055 rigging wire, but it doesn't work for me, it's just too thin.
It curls when in contact with the superglue, snaps back, impossible to get even with a tweezer, and than curls even more...
If anyone wants the rigging wire, let me know (specs see photo 4).

So I used thin stretched sprue, with takes some more dry fitting, but can be placed quite precise
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/9/9/3/1266993-82785-68-720.jpg)
The sprues from the Spitfire are already black, so no colouring needed 😉

Even with lots of decal solution not usable...
I decided to go safe with new decals. Luckily the Australian flew with a simular paint scheme as the British

Now what? The new decal is at least one millimeter too big both above and below the tail...
Cut to size and lots of softener used to form the decal.
Had some time in between the softener to add some decals to the Mustang too.

And now I know why the decalsheet came with white copies. The decals are very thin, so the colours don't really stand out to a dark surface colour.
But I think I will paint the red a little to add some colour. I'll just leave the blue as it is.
Let's wait and see how the roundels look.

This little piece of excess decal has been trimmed after the photo was taken.
The decal on the other side will be added next week, even better cut to shape but also using a lot of softener.

Touch up of the tail, not a lot of work, and not a huge impact, but still happy with it.

I think I'm calling the pilots and ground crew 'done'... If i take a good look at them in a few days or weeks, I will probably see some things to touch up.
Any tips are welcome !!
For now, back to the Camel !!

Nice rigging. My experience (with other brand) was to put a tiny drop of cyrano and then stretch the rigging thread to touch it, wait for it to dry a few seconds and then cut the excess. But I did it only once, not sure how thick it was

Keep it up 👍
I know the feeling - these new fancy elastic super-thin keep curling all the time 🙁

Thanks Moreno. Decals on the other side are also in place, though not trouble-free...
Only the fixed landing gear now and the last pieces of rigging.

Looks good, respect for that middle part of rigging, over the engine and MGs 👍
