Hey guy's my first project of the new year. I will be building Academy's P-47D "Razor Back".
The P-47D will be Miss Mary Lou of the 19th FS, 318th FG on Saipan 1944. The Academy kit dates back to 1998. The kit is a nice basic kit, I will add some details to the cockpit and wheels wells.

Jv, I have the next project idea ready. It's going to be a P-47D Bubble Top a late P-47D-40 in NMF from the 79th FG in Italy 1945. I will us the Academy kit P-47D Bubble Top for the project. Much of what I have done in this project will apply to the late model P-47D. I will have to do some kit bashing and steal a few parts from a Revell P-47D kit. I will be starting the Bubble Top soon, stay tuned.

Jv, I don't do much kit bashing but when you can steal parts from other kits go for it. I like the Academy P-47D Bubble Top better than the Revell P-47 kit, but the Revell P-47 kit has a few parts I need to upgrade the Academy to a late P-47D-40. BTW Revell makes a late model P-47D and a P-47M, but I like the academy kits better. I will also be doing a P-47M in the near future converting the Academy P-47D Bubble Top to a P-47M using parts from the Revell kit.

Jv, the Tamiya P-47 is a better kit than the Academy kit, it has better details. The details I added to the Academy kit it's included in the Tamiya kit, but I can buy two Academy kits for one Tamiya kit, and I like adding details.

Ok I got that one in in a lot of 15 kits and 5 kits of figures
And and upgrade kit
All tamiya except for 3 kits of figures and the upgrade kit
So to me its an inexpensive kit
I'm seprised to hear what you say about academy
I thought it was better and more expensive the tamiya
I have seen dragon academy and tacom most kits come whed pe today
I also got some tamiya kits whed pe
But that is only in new kits and expensive kits

Jv, a lot of the Academy kits I build are from the 1990's a good basic kit. Kits to learn on and hone our skills. Tamiya kits have always been better in details and fit, but a little more money. I like to build several of the same kind of aircraft, like one of each P-47 aircraft. That why I can buy two or three Academy kits for one Tamiya kit. I just add the little details I need for each kit. Now Academy's newer kits are much better and getting close to Tamiya.
