I own a 68 Beetle , a bug from California ..it's presently sitting in a very cold garage , and when I go outside to check on it I swear I hear California Dreaming (by the Mamas and the Papas ).

Like the first build I started i managed to mess up the body and hood
So will steal it from another kit
Luckily I got a few of that kit
So I will have all parts of a new kit in spares
Als there is many that do interesting builds and don't use the full kit
So I'm sure someone can help you out

But I know many companies do seport you if there is missing parts or broken
And also if you need just 1 part
Or if you know someone whed a printer you can get it printed
So plenty ways to do things

Hi Mona I've seen some on here make castings, like make a copy of the handle on the other side. For a beetle door handle I think you can carve something acceptable out of a piece of plastic , won't be perfect but I bet also won't be noticeably out of place.

@ Jv , I pieced the largest parts remaining together ,CA glued them in place then used .025 dia. styrene (evergreen) rod to form the balance CA glued it to the existing pieces .( It was a very short piece about 5mm long ,folded a hook on the end (2mm) ,bent that back glued it to it self ) in pic # 14

@ Jv thank you , for me there is a element of "end" of the build anxiety ..as I don't want to ruin my project at hand 🤔 overcoming little obstacles like these are a great (skill?) confidence boost 🙂

Now there probably could be pictures added with the real "thing" 😉 outside in the garage. the cold garage 😄
Well done so far. Do you paint the running boards black at the end? Did you complete the lighthouse for the licensplate on the rear lid?
I love this kit - doesn't matter, which version Revell brought to us. It is very well designed. The proportions are pretty good and it fits well together.

@ Christian W, hi on my 1:1 Beetle "outside"..I deleted the running boards due to their condition (just after purchase) ,an presently don't plan on replacing them ..intend to make a "cap" to cover the recessed area where the body bolts are ,an fill' in the holes in the fenders ..don't really like those running boards . my bug is a sun faded multi shade red ..and I like it they way it is presently , more concerned about ..purchasing a supercharger and components for my "extra" engine , last summer it was the suspension and braking system ,summer before I made my wiring harness . perhaps I will upload some pic's .. yes I did complete the license plate light house on the model (it sits in a cabinet in my living room) no i didn't paint the running boards or the marker/turn signal lens or photographed to update the album ...I also like this kit ,as it was enjoyable build motivation ..to work on my "sleeper"

@ Christian W I updated this album by adding a few pic's of my 1:1 Bug ..as it sits today 1/9/23 , yes it's cold (34 F) an wants to be inside where it's warm , although the bug is still WIP ,the "well done so far "model in this album isn't its done and I haven't any intentions of doing anymore to it or posting any pic's of it sorry 🙁

Sweet 🙂 Thank you for the update! Your unpainted / left away running boards making definitely sense to me now.
You guessed my thought: I'd love to see your bug. Thank you! I'll call it a "rolling restoration". I'm smiling about your sentence, that your bug will be in the warm house 🙂 Like a cat: looking through the window from the outside *lol*.
It looks like, that you added some wider wheels on your 1:1!? That what I see is super cool. I love every Beetle, which I see. Since 1992 we (my brother and I) owned more than 20 Beetles easily. We had 13 at one time for years. From 1950 up to the 1985 50th anniversary Bug. Today I only have two left, my brother none. Times changing.
Thank you for the pictures 🙂

I like the pics from model and 1:1. Your 1:1 bug is the type I like most, particularly with the small bumpers. And the engine sound... unbeatable.
