As it turns out, you need to glue de van to the chassis before you glue the spare wheel assembly

So, while working on the car transporter and having to wait for the paint to dry, I opened yet another box. More yellow to come?

This Heller kit has some fragile connections. The front axle should be positionable, but I glued it straight. I don't trust it that much. And the cab needs at least 5 hands to get the pieces together, I don't know how I managed?
The curved fenders scare me a bit. Gloss black over curves? Let's see what I make of that!

Greg made me use pink for my experiment. If I fail it is his fault 😉

Nice tact on the blame game Marty! I reckon it will work as Greg recommended if you don't paint too thick.

That worked surprisingly well. Not as subtle or in the shades i intended, but reusable nonetheless 😄
Great idea Greg!

Whooo... it looks good! And, of course, I'm not too shy to take my share of the credit for how good it looks! 😄

Can't wait to see it finished! Interesting how the first coat of yellow over the pink primer gave a soft orange and the deepened to more yellow with more paint applied. Excellent exercise in experimental exploration. Geeze, did I just write that??? Kudos Marty!

Actually. That's a good point. The pink base coat allows for a single yellow coat to go on very nicely with a rich, slightly organgey hue. However, if you opt for a second coat of yellow... it gets more "lemon" coloured. I've had issues where I needed to touch up a few spots and had the yellow coat not quite match up.

You deserve the credit Greg!
I needed three coats to get a nice yellow over the grey primer. I am baffled by the difference the primer makes. It's kinda like preshading on planes, I think.
It is a very effective process to get a two tone basecoat. I'd rather mask a primer than a basecoat. Easier to fix when lifted or oversprayed.

Tamiya paint stripper does smell funny, works weird too. Surprisingly it didn't smoke. Strips 2k without flexing a muscle, but can't get through Heller chrome.
Kit is nice to see in the end, but the parts could use a better connections. Sometimes an indentation of 0.3mm is all for a pin to connect in. And just too a flimsy construction of the suspensions and the superstructure lacks structural strength.

I'm intrigued by the difference in the fenders, photo 34. Can you enlight me? Thx

I'm assuming you mean the shape? These are the rear fenders. On the outside they're more open than on the inside.
If you mean the difference in orange peel: lighting is reflected in different angles

Yap I mean one looks with Orange peel the other looks great.
I thought you were showing a step further in that one.
