Some detailing on IP coaming.

And I just found out that the loose canopy parts are differently sized regarding windshield and all other panels. In no way can one open the canopies realistically. I initially planned to use vacform as well for the inner panels but whatever I do or think of, it can’t be done realistically.

The red and white rudder and red dots on the insignia were removed as per directive just a couple of weeks before the battle of Midway. According color images of VT-8 just before the battle, the rudder was repainted in some other Blue Gray.

I was wondering whether or not you were checked in already Hanno! 😉
The pictures I have show a different kind of floor than GWH has and I tried to replicate that.
The pilots side panels don't have the sides underneath so I cut that away as well and then the forward part of the floor was no longer connected or very straight.
What does you references say about the interior colors of especially the second batch of Devastator?

You're right Sid, I'm late.....😄 I was'nt aware that the floorlayout was altered in later batches.
As far as the interior clour is concerned, I'm pretty sure it was interior green, as even the early references ( at least mine) seem to show that early serial production TBDs were painted like that internally. If you look at the first picture in album:

As all these birds were crouflaged after December 7th 1941, I'm sure the internal colour remained as it was.

The original TBD's were in NMF finish inside I believe, but the pilots soon found out that was not very handy with the sun and all. I remember reading late thirties they field experimented with (bronze) green and black interiors. Somewhere at the end of the colorful time they transitioned to (interior) green.

Nice pics btw! I think they are of the very early prototypes. Some slight layout changes in equipment and the old interior for the bomb aim doors. But the interior color is not as NMF as the pictures I have in my book. Forgot the title and I am not home currently. Could be lightish green..

Hi Kim, I used Mr.Paint 133 M485 Blue Grey and 134 M495 Light Grey. The rudder has been oversprayed with Gunze 42 Blue Grey.
