Album info
Since I have already built the standing funny car Barracuda Hemi under Glass, it makes sense that I will also build a Plymouth Barracuda Fastback stock car with a stock engine. The Cuda came with a four-speed manual transmission, sport tires, and heavy-duty suspension and brakes. The base Barracuda V8 engine was the '318', with '383' and '340' engines. The base engine in the Barracuda was the 225 cubic-inch Slant Six.
I bought the MPC kit M832-200 on Ebay. The parts of the kit box for the Barracuda were all molded flawlessly in plastic. I didn't find any streaks on the clear parts. Chrome parts were also perfectly cast and electroplated. The assembly instructions are written in English. Due to the exploded views and the symbols, however, it can also be read by people who do not speak English.
Assembly instructions: Engine
First I glued the stock motor marked 'A' on the assembly instructions with the starting symbol except for the chrome parts 'C'.
Painting the body, interior and engine
Then I painted the interior parts, the body, the engine parts and the chassis with Tamiya primer. After that, the engine got the color orange - Chrysler. I used resin parts to replicate the inner fender in the engine compartment. Otherwise you could have seen the street in this area, which is not the case in real life. I painted the body and hood that got the super hood with magenta metallic mixed with Tamiya paints. I made the door handles out of silver wire and a ball of solder. The magenta metallic color took 48 hours to dry because I was still using a Tamiya retarder. I chromed the window frames and wheel arches with Barfoil. Then I applied a white decal strip (from old stock) to the body. After I painted the interior of the body part white with a brush, I brushed the body and hood with Glossy. In order to be able to mount the front parts, I had to adapt them to the body with a needle file. I also adapted the bumper to the body part (instructions: body). In order to be able to attach the side mirrors and the antenna, I drilled a D 1mm hole.
Building instructions: Interior Stock Interior
I roughened the carpet. Painted them with matte black. The cockpit and seats also received a matt black finish. The rear seat can be folded down like on the 1:1 Barracuda. Then the assembly took place according to the assembly instructions
Assembly instructions: Chassis, Wheels & Completion Assemblies
After I detailed the engine a bit, I put it on the matt black chassis. Now windows, rear-view mirrors (custom) and rear lights (6) are mounted according to Stock specifications.
