The Cockpit - a seat. Quite rudimentary I would say. 🙂
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/3/7/2/1367372-10307-14-720.jpg)
Preparations for operation "pimp my ride"
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/3/7/1/1367371-10307-64-720.jpg)
Add some styrene sheet....
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/3/5/9/1367359-10307-91-720.jpg)
.....shake it well......
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/3/9/1/1367391-10307-76-720.jpg)
...and Voilà ! A bit more cockpit than before,...
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/9/2/7/1372927-10307-91-720.jpg)
There was an quite obvious gap on each side from the end of the upperwing panel towards the wing to body fairing. Eighter an issue within the kit or a modellers issue - not sure. In order to close it I glued some stryrene sheet instead of using putty at the end.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/9/2/8/1372928-10307-30-720.jpg)
Styrene brought in shape....
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/9/2/9/1372929-10307-19-720.jpg)
...and wings attached. Looking better now without gap.
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/9/3/0/1372930-10307-88-720.jpg)
Cuting away some section for the lighting. Lenses scratched from transparent sprue.
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/9/3/1/1372931-10307-54-720.jpg)
Lighting installed.
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/6/6/1/1379661-10307-26-720.jpg)
Do bring some "life" into that inital empty wheel bay I added some panels & hoses, cables - please do not call dibs on accuracy - lets call it artistic liscense. 😉
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/6/6/2/1379662-10307-21-720.jpg)
Everything ready for taking it into the paint shop
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/6/6/3/1379663-10307-15-720.jpg)
masking,....
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/6/6/4/1379664-10307-99-720.jpg)
....followed by operation Petticoat - the primed Defiant.
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/6/6/5/1379665-10307-68-720.jpg)
And here the greasy Defiant - ready for decals.
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/9/1/8/1382918-10307-29-720.jpg)
The original kit part (4barrel gun) got somehow lost - so after coming that far with the model itself I needed an alternativ for completing the turret.
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/9/1/7/1382917-10307-23-720.jpg)
So again I used some styrne and spare parts to restore the machine gun....
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/9/1/6/1382916-10307-87-720.jpg)
...now we are ready to go - 4 barrel gun for the turret installed.
![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/3/4/8/1385348-10307-96-720.jpg)
All decals on,...pretty hard work to get the the 40+ years old decals huddle down onto the structure,....
![Album image #22 Album image #22](/albums/img/3/4/9/1385349-10307-33-720.jpg)
...some pre-shadding and paint damage already done at this state of the paint job.
![Album image #23 Album image #23](/albums/img/3/5/1/1385351-10307-48-720.jpg)

Moving forward with this one rather nicely. Wish I had a similar pace on other projects too.

Juergen- I like your thinking ref. "artistic license", makes a plain piece of plastic "interesting" - no rivet inspectors allowed on my builds!
