Boeing B-29A Superfortress // 49th sqdn // "Celestial Queen"

When it comes to the majestic B-29, i chose to represent aircaft 44-87660, which belonged to the 40th bomb group, 44th squadron and was flown by Capt. John Eigenmann whom, along with the aircraft, survived the war. This aircraft was named "Celestial Queen" and had this beautiful artwork on the right side of the nose. 

the aircarft is photographed here over Tokyo in 1945, she is the backround, right side. 

Sometime betweeen 1945 and 1946, the number 71 was painted just underneath the canopy. I am assumiong this signified a chande in the aircraft's operational management, but i am not sure. Beautiful picture though.
