LAAT Gunship 1/172
I recieved this kit as a gift and I wanted a quick kit to build. The contructions looks easy and there are not many parts. But the details look a bit strange and it's in a very small scale. This will be good practise for some detail painting.
The interior is hand painted. I used light gray paint and added a dark night wash and a white oil paint dry brush to all details.
reasonably happy with the result. I used the same staps for the cockpit but I also painted the molded clone pilots.
Masking in this scale is not easy. The fit of most parts is decent. I did use some putty in some of the rough parts. But I'm not going to make the surface perfect on this one.
I primed the LAAT black and make a off-white colour from tamiya sky grey and ammo matte white (Ratio 1:3).
I painted the all other colours with a brush. I mixed my own to get close to the correct tints. I did take some creative license with the placement of the colours compared to the instructions.
Brown green ammo wash added. I dropped it during clean up and broke both gun barrels. But I could find them back.
wash removed and decals added. Decals are very small but not to bad to apply.
Matte caot added to finish the gunship. The masking also turned out very well.
I first decided to use the kit stand but then decided to make my own base.
I make it form thinck paper and andded some ground with toilet paper and cat litter. The stangest of materials but it was easy to make and I like the result. The terain based on christophsis with some green crystals and grey brown colour pallet.
This was a easy and fun build and although it is very small it isn't to bad to build.
