The Manhattan project was one the biggest failure of WW2, leading to the invasion of Japan.
After VE day, many British and American units were transferred to the PTO for the invasion of Japan. Others were disbanded. In the end, the armed forces in western Europe were very weak. Seeing this, Stalin ordered the invasion of Western Europe in spring 1946.
The battle was a stalemate, and air war was fiercer than ever over Germany.
Typhoon and Thunderbolt were used again in close-air support, and bring havoc in the russian AFV unit.
In order to try to stop this, one of the solutions was to finish the few Coelian turrets left in german factories, and to mate them with refurbished german Panther hull.
A few entered service, but were of no use: too unreliable, too few and without any good fire direction system.
