16th Attack Squadron "Eagles"

OV-10A Bronco from ICM in 1/48 scale, representing serial no. 155792 (68-3792), from 16th Attack Squadron "Eagles", 15th Strike Wing, Philippine Air Force (Hukbong Himpapawid ng Pilipinas), based in Danilo Atienza Air Base, Cavite, Philippines. Camouflage represents the initial five-tone camo, when Broncos were delivered in the 90's.

Pitot tube from Master is only aftermarket used on the model. Insignia and stencils were either self-printed or masked. No decals were used from the box, except cockpit instruments. The model was painted mainly with MrPaint lacquers and later weathered with artist oils. Colors were mixed by myself. Weight was added on the back of the cockpit wall and in the engine area, in front of the main landing gear to prevent tail-sitting. 230 gallon fuel tank was scratchbuilt, since ICM provides only 150 gal tank with the model. Other changes includes (but not limited to) opening of the cockpit, modifying the seats and pilot's instrument panels, according to reference, adding wiring and modifying landing gear struts so that they can be added to the model at final assembly stage.

This model is dedicated to 1Lt. Mary Grace Bayolo (1973-2001) from Philippine AF. During a routing flight on same 155792, port engine failed at 1000 ft on approach to Clark airport, forcing co-pilot Ben Nasayo to eject first. While 1Lt. Mary Grace Bayolo could eject as next, she stayed onboard, flying the crippled plane out of populated area. She was killed on impact. 1Lt. Mary Grace Bayolo was one among first four female pilots in Philippine Air Force.
