i will attempt to convert the old LS model F-4EJ into an RAF F-4K/M Phantom FGR.2 version.
most modifications will be scratchbuild with decals from various kits and homemade.

im almost ready to start this project, just got back from the hobby store and got some 5.5mm styrene tubes (also got 6.3 as a backup) for the new RR Spey exhausts.

work has begun, this morning ive started with scratchbuilding the new exhausts, as the British Phantoms were equiped with Rolls Royce Spey engines, instead of the GE J-79 engines as seen in US and International Phantoms.

it has come to my attention that building an accurate FGR.2 out of an F-4E isnt as straight forward as i first thought.
as the fuselage of the British Phantoms are a bit bulkier then the standard F-4, due to the size of the Spey engines, it would be easier to scratchbuild the whole thing then to convert an existing kit.
reshaping the fuselage is to hard for my skills, so i will have to make do with what i can do.
that does not mean im canceling this project, im still going through with it, no matter what the result will be.

ok, Finished.
although im happy with the result, im a little dissapointed i didnt have enough ground clearance for 6 bombs.
all in all, to me it looks OK 🙂
