I found my 'old' dream project on my parents attic while rumouging around. It's my 1:32 Revell RF -4E box filled to the brim with various after market items. Sadly, back in my teenage years I thought to be a very good brush painter... Boy, was I wrong! As quick as I slapped the thinned enamel paint on I rushed to get it off again... The result: a partly painted, partly cleaned, partly etched bunch of parts. As this particular kit is so hard to come by these days I decided I give it a try to bring this kit back to life. If I succeed I will give it a greek livery in honour of the Hellenic Air Force which gave these former german beauties a second life.

I decided to throw in a Tamiya F-4C/D as well. I am planning on using the wings and landing gear. The wings have to be adjusted because of the wrong angle for the outer wings. The Tamiya metal landing gear not only looks beefier but is also sturdier than Revell's. I also ordered GT Resin's seamless intakes designed for the Revell fuselage and I expect the plane to get heavier than intended by Revell. For the moment I am very impressed by the Tamiya mouldings but not so by the seamless intakes, let's see what a thorough wash can do to the appearance of the resin parts. Yesterday my three weeks vacation started, so a lot of modeling time to expect. 🙂
PS. The remaining Tamiya fuselage and Revell wings will some time end up as a Korean F-4D... But that's for a whole other vacation...
Ah, yes. I remember painting (trying) cars with a brush back in the days (60s). the results were always pretty bad !! LOL The F-4 is one of my favorite jets. I had bought the new 32nd Revell at HL but didn't realize how big it is. I traded down to 48th, even that's not small. It was a big plane! I'm sure you'll be able to resurrect it, no problem. Can't wait to see the finished model.
Thanks Robert! Back in those days it was huge! Even now, laying on my work bench it hasn't shrunk... I hope to finish it in time as I'm on a tight schedule for work.
Yesterday the movers packed my furniture and the largest part of my stash for a three year storage while I'm away to Oklahoma this summer. Sadly I haven't been able to spend as much time as I have hoped on this project. Seems like I have to change the name to "Third life".😉 To be continued in 2020! 😄
Robert, I'm counting on you to give me helpful tips when I start again when I'm back!
