Still figuring out how to portray this bird in it's setting as being presented to the general public on a day that started as rainy but shifted to sunny. Therefore the slats were slightly open to let water drain, but everything else was buttoned up. I don't care that much about intakes or cockpits, but the outer surfaces need to bee spot on. Moreover the inner and outer wing panel slats need to be slightly open. The Meng kit offers operable slats, but has some weird things going on on some details on the outer wing panels. The Hypersonic aftermarket set catches these perfect, but are intended for the ZM kit. The ZM soft wings come with the strengthening straps, some late model F-4E's and G's were fitted with. Not the F's however, as those had thicker wing skins. Frankenstein it is then: Use the early ZM F-4E combined with the Hypersonic set and Meng inner wing slats.

oooh man, Patrick i sincerely hope this won't remain as an idea, Deutsche Phantom and a very special livery at that, can only mean one word: EPIC! 🙂
That was quick Murad! 🙂 Welcome aboard! Currently I'm building the 1/72 version of this very bird but that is going to be a kit bashing massacre as I'm combining the Academy F-4J, Revell F-4F and ESCI F-4E into the Mother of all Phantoms. 😉 The 1/48 inflight version will be my Zen moment in between of that one. 😉

Hi Christian! Thanks! Sadly it's on a back burner for now as I have some modelclub 'commitment' going on now. But I can see the box from my workbench, so it still has my attention. 😉
This is what I do with my "mid term projects" too 😄 If they are in sight, the always give me bad feelings about how ling they still sit and wait.
