Kit: Monogram 1/72 F-105G
Build: Out of the box with additional weapons from the Hasegawa weapon kit.
Paints: Vallejo – from the Vietnam series.
Decals: Out of the box and from the Hasegawa weapon set.
Markings: 561st Tactical Fighter Squadron, 388th Tactical Fighter Wing, Korat RTAFB, Southeast Asia, 1972. This aircraft (S/N 63-8320) achieved three MiG kills in Vietnam. While I couldn't confirm if the aircraft carried kill markings, I opted not to add them.
Kit History: Purchased second-hand along with an F-105F version. Despite its age, the kit remains in good condition. Unfortunately, one of the cockpit pieces was slightly broken, but otherwise, all the parts were present.
The F-105G was a variant of the Republic F-105 Thunderchief, deployed by the 561st Tactical Fighter Squadron within the 388th Tactical Fighter Wing. Specialized in electronic warfare, the 561st operated F-105G Wild Weasel aircraft, modified to detect and suppress enemy air defense systems. In their service from the 1960s to the 1970s.
