Personal interest:
The MiG-29S is an upgrade of the original MiG-29 fighter that includes multi-role capabilities and improved electronic counter-measures. The Soviet MiG-29S aircraft in Moldova included a nuclear strike capability. In 1991, there were over 3200 nuclear warheads in the former Soviet states of Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. The US played a major role in ensuring all nuclear weapons from these countries were transferred to Russia. This model represents a nuclear strike capable MiG-29S inherited by Moldova after the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991.
