These grilles do not fit into the duct very well so I had to cut some guides into the plastic.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/6/5/6/1679656-72231-60-720.jpg)
Deep enough for the grille to fit without bending..

.. add some super thin glue to soften up the plastic..

After a short hiatus back with a new project of an ancient kit in a somewhat recent boxing. Směr's release of a 1970ies Heller Spitfire V complete with a few PE parts and photofilm.
A British Aircraft used by Americans in a North African campaign, let's see how this will turn out. I expect some more learning experience for my skills towards work with PE parts and photofilm and a lot of fun building and painting an interesting camo scheme.

Started painting, but I'm not sure yet if I will try free hand the camo scheme again or cut masks?

Decided to go and cut masks for the paint scheme. Probably not the most accurate but close enough for me.
Pro: nice, sharp lines
Con: takes quite some time to cut and apply

Looks very nice, making that old kit really shine! One thing I tried for my recent Mosquito build was Tamiya curved masking tape to make a similar camo pattern. I filled in the masked area with tape and scraps of paper towel. Worked pretty nice and took about a day to do.

Thank you Rando. Curved masking tape sounds like a good idea, I will see if I can get my hands on some soon.

And finished. I kind of doubt that the stencil decals are properly scaled, but such is not something I am too concerned about.

Thank you Alex and Rando 🙂
Additional note: The canopy comes in three parts so I guess it was intended to also be displayed with an open cockpit and the center part being slid back. However that does not work well due to the glass being rather thick. Unless the small back part of the canopy is completely omitted. Probably, I did not try it because I just had the idea..
