Trumpeter/SPD T-62 Mod 1972
SP Designs corrected suspension (Right) vs. kit suspension (Left)
PS Designs (Right) vs. Trumpeter (Left) comparison.
Driver's periscope washing system added- my hoses are probably a little out of scale (too big.)
added some details to the engine deck with Voyager PE parts, scratched the fan grill so I can have the cover open, and made the snorkel engine cover latch release mechanism (non-existent on the Trumpeter kit) from some plastic rod and various bits.
fuel tank feed and vent lines.
fuel lines in place with SP Designs corrected fuel tanks and storage bins.
more SP Designs correction parts.
The kit snorkeling cover just didn't replicate the stamped metal very well, so I burnished some aluminum foil over the part and it looks ok.
It even fits! I'll add some hinges and move on to the dreaded slat armor.
Here we go!
The slat panels go together fairly easily. I have a nice square corner to work with and the tape is just sticky enough to hold the parts in place.
Well, they are on...
Initial base coat on- light at the end of the tunnel!
a little color to liven things up.
Now it is starting to look like a tank that has been involved in 3 conflicts.
making progress...
Let's build a base!
a little dirt from the yard...
some color...
lichen+ h20/pva spray + oregano= tasty gnarly bushes!
lots of copper wire.
some putty to fill in gaps.
I saw a video where somebody used the Vallejo texture for trees- I think it works pretty well for my purpose!
a little paint and lots of leaves.
it will do.

Outstanding job on the fuel lines. I made them a few times but now I use aftermarket ones, yours are perfect.

Thanks André! Lots of bending and testing as you know. I'm getting myself ready for the slat armor construction, and will definitely go with your tip of making a jig. I've been following YOUR T-62 build, and your anti-radiation cladding on the turret is awesome!

Thank you hiveloc. I'm now (with a pinch of salt) placing the turret slat armor supports. When it's done (hopefuly correctly), i'll share their detailed placement locations by lenght and height, so anyone trying the same build won't have the same trial, error and elbow grease experience. Also following your build.

The turret slat mounting is going to the top of my NOT FUN list! I had a sheet of paper full of measurements and helpful tips from @André Silva, but I still ended up spending too much time testing and fitting everything in place. An unfortunate tip-over during construction had me re-attaching some of the parts- sigh.

First time seeing the Voyager Slat Armour set being built, truly daring build and also inspiring.

Thank you Cortex! The slats were a real pain- Voyager's instructions are lacking and just plain wrong in spots, and I have a long list of gripes on the construction. I'm hoping that the side panels will mount up without too much trouble since I had to get well into the paint stage before I can do that. Keep an eye on André Silva's build, I think his slat armor is going to end up way better than mine!

Fantastic work, the slat armor and supports are perfect, the camo is spot-on.

Thank you all! Definitely a ton of work @Neuling as you know from your dioramas- it was an exercise in patience for myself. There are a few flaws, but I am happy with the results.
