Tokyo Clash - Jin-Roh Protect Gear Diorama

Album image #1
Beginning work on a new diorama. I've had this kit sitting around for a bit and I'm excited to work on it. This seems to be basically the pieces of an actual action figure with no color. The body is PVC I believe and the weapons are ABS. For those who don't know, Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade is a 1999 movie based on the manga series Kerberos Panzer Cop. It's alt history, and the basic conceit is that Japan was nuked by Germany instead of the US (somehow) and they surrendered to Germany instead. By the 1950s in Tokyo there's a low intensity war ongoing between the police and an underground resistance. That's where the Kerberos unit comes in, heavily armed and armored. Some people online like to use this movie for clips of how cool it would be to be basically a Wolfenstein soldier, but I find it's really a more compelling case as to why you should NOT give the police an MG-42.

I got this kit used so some of the pieces are a bit beat up from being glued together then pried apart previously. The piece that looks like it is missing was also glued to the one above it before as well. I'm also missing the instructions sheet, but it doesn't seem like it will be too hard to put together.

Here are the weapons. I'll be modelling this with the classic MG-42 with the belt over the wrist pose. They're very nicely done, and you can even see there's a metal pin to set the mount for the MG-42 on.

First things first the radio aerial is really bent so I replaced it with wire.

I didn't replace the other shorter radio piece.

I had to smooth out and fill the whole right side of the backpack because the piece that's glued there now had been really roughly removed by whoever built this before. The side looks weird because the sanding tool I was using had been used to sand something that had black paint on it.

These were pretty easy to put together, I just had to use some putty on one side of the mask.

The armguard is pretty warped so I had to keep in in place to actually get it to glue properly.

Album image #8
I did a test fitting of the upper body and found that there is very little posing variety. The arms bend only at the elbows and on top of that there are only three hands, two right hands to hold different weapons, and one open left hand.

This is the pose I was hoping to do since the kit does include the full belt for the MG-42. However since the arms can't go straight out, and the MG-42 stock doesn't fit into the hands in a way that would allow you to put the stock under the arm or at least against the shoulder it's not possible. Converting that pose is a terrifying prospect so I'll just be happy with what I can do.
