I put masking tape on the wings, marked the camo pattern according to the reference, took it off, cut away parts, and then put it onto the model again. The Tamiya tape did a good job preventing paint bleeding into the other areas. The rear elevator broke off for the third time.
Main camo on the wings came out beautifully. Mottled camo applied to the upper part of the plane body. Lacks some contrast, unfortunately.
The cockpit window is botched. Couldnt be bothered to mask it properly, because parts just kept falling off the plane body.
First try with oil pants for additional weathering and highlight effects. Did not quite work out as expected. Panel lines darkened using Vallejo black wash.
Green camo: Vallejo Model Air Light Green (71.022) and Medium Yellow (71.002) in a 5:1 mix
Brown camo: Vallejo Model Air USAF Olive (71.016) and Tire black (71.315) in a 10:3 mix
Darker brown camo: Tire black

Created a chipped away paint effect by applying Vallejo Model Air Aluminium (71.062) with a small sponge.
So many decals ...
The wobbly landing gear in full view 😄 The underside is painted with Vallejo Light Blue RLM65, a beautiful color.

Ben MYou could try pinning the rear elevator with small brass pins, that's what I do when I have some piece that keeps coming off.

Nils DesThanks for the idea, Ben. I won't touch this model again (unless for throwing it in the trash) but will probably need it for the next wobbly WW2 Revell build.

Nils DesThanks, Ben! I do like the look of the final model despite some shortcomings. It looks better in real life than on the closeup photos, perhaps on behalf of my poor eyesight 😉 I still believe Revell could have avoided some of the flimsy bits. The Tamiya Bf109G will be one of my next builds and it will be interesting to see the differences between those kits.

This Messerschmitt is a fickle beast: Several parts just kept breaking off, such as the rear left elevator which I had to glue on four times. The landing gear is also very wobbly and I won't glue them this way for the Spitfire.
