Did you made the pix in a Solarium?😢 it's looking great Zimmi! Pe's are worth the money as long as the canopy is not closed! I'm exited about the outcome of this beautiful kit!😢

little progress, first try in soldering PE parts, luckily nothing of it won't be seen anymore 🙂
5 November 2012, 18:06
Holger Kranich
These lil belts are horrifying, I know! But you did well! This will become a great replic of a Reichsfeuerzeug😢!
5 November 2012, 18:15
Markus Kutsch The Plastic Bench
Well done,Zimmi. At my next project i want to try soldering to (for the first time ,too)
I am not so into planes ,so why Reichfeuerzeug?
I know that the Sherman Tanks called "Ronson" ( like the lighter) because of the fast burning by a hit to the ammo.
5 November 2012, 18:27
Holger Kranich
The 4 engines liked to go up in flames too often. It had many nicknames like reichsfackel and so on😢!
5 November 2012, 18:33
Mike Kryza
Holly it is right. They never solve the problems of two engins one behind the other. They overheated very often...
5 November 2012, 18:38
Holger Kranich
Yep! The other problem was that it should have diving bomber capabilities... Total silly order from the RLM!
5 November 2012, 18:44
Mike Kryza
Right too!
5 November 2012, 18:46
Aghis Barberopoulos
If only the double skin evaporative cooling worked efficiently enough... 🙂
As Holger pointed out, if it wasn't for the ridiculous dive requirement, it would have been a fairly successful aircraft. It was certainly advanced enough that the Brits were really interested in it.
5 November 2012, 19:09
Holger Kranich
I remember one of the British pilots who said that he ever felt comfortable in a German aircraft but not in this one!
5 November 2012, 19:13
Aghis Barberopoulos
He obviously didn't fly the Me 163... hehe 😉

3 December 2012, 21:06
Frank Krause
Nice cockpit! The seat belts are amazing! How did you deal with them? They seem to be that small, that even tweezers appear to be too big...
3 December 2012, 21:23
Wilfried Bogaerts
Good, job Zimmy ! 👍
4 December 2012, 07:18
Zimmermaniac
Frank, seatbelts are still quite handable with tweezers and a steady hand 🙂

Aghis Barberopoulos
The beast begins to take shape...nice work so far !
4 December 2012, 17:29
Zimmermaniac
did some work on the tail, Revell wants you to remove the tailsection, file it and add the specific one for A-6, so I did, as ya can see I added lots of putty to fill the gap, for removal of the putty no sanding stick came around, only cotton buds and mr color thinner, see for yourselves
19 December 2012, 15:29
Holger Kranich
Looks ok in my oppinion! Its not easy to add it in the right angle but looks good on the pix!
19 December 2012, 15:35
Wilfried Bogaerts
Putty demo at the club !!!
19 December 2012, 15:36
Holger Kranich
Do you use the thinner when putty is dry or still wet?
19 December 2012, 15:36
Zimmermaniac
smoothen it when wet, remove when dry

I tryed it that way on my latest 109 with Revell putty. Worked out very nice. And again, thx for that hint Zimmi!
19 December 2012, 15:52
Philip De Keyser
Hi Zimmi, looks great mate, I know the trick with the putty, the result looks fine, keep the pix comming
@Holger, I use the thinner when the putty is still wett, I do use sometimes tamyia fine liqiud cement for these things, but be carefull with the cement on the plastick, before you now you've got a hole in you plane 🙁
Greetz Phil
19 December 2012, 15:52
Holger Kranich
@Phil: You mean Tamiya extra thin? Oh yes, you´ve gotta be careful with that!😢
19 December 2012, 15:55
Philip De Keyser
@Holger, yes that's the one😉
19 December 2012, 15:56
Holger Kranich
@Phil: great glue!!!

Bill Gilman
What's the secret message on the glass in photos 14-17? Something about breakfast and lunch... 🙂
26 December 2012, 01:54
Zimmermaniac
I cut the PE parts from the frame on that glas, otherwise there's too much chance you bend 'em while cutting
27 December 2012, 10:36
Zimmermaniac
@Phil..I tried the trick using the thinner when putty is still wet, works great, it gets real smoothened, but works not with mr surfacer, ya wipe everything off, not only the excess
thnx for the tip 🙂
29 December 2012, 20:29
Wilfried Bogaerts
Tried it with Mr. Surfacer and Tamiya Laquer Thinner, it works! Mr. Surfacer applied on Friday evening and removed on Saturday evening with a cotton bud soaked with Tamiya Laquer Thinner. Looks if this is goin' to become a standard procedure for me now... 😄

30 December 2012, 16:12
Christian Lehmann
Hi Wilfried, which Laquer thinner did you use? X-20A?
30 December 2012, 16:56
Wilfried Bogaerts
Hi Lemmy, no that's Tamiya's acrylic thinner, I use lacquer thinner, item N° 87077-500. The bottles with the YELLOW cap.
30 December 2012, 18:29
Christian Lehmann
o.k. I dont know them but with the item no ican find it
Thank´s an happy new year
30 December 2012, 18:32

18 February 2013, 16:37

Hi Zimmy
How are you ,Mate??
Looks great so far .!A lot of putty used ,or??
18 February 2013, 18:31
Zimmermaniac
a lot o' work goes in the area where the bombbays meet the fuselage. nasty seams appear there
further on...hiprecovery goes slowly but steady, thnx for asking mate
18 February 2013, 19:10
Holger Kranich
Good to hear that model and hip recovery makes progress!!!
This Reichsfeuerzeug seems to become a beauty!!!
18 February 2013, 19:21
Bill Gilman
Ooh, hip surgery? Was it a replacement? My daughter does orthopaedic surgeries, so I hear about this kind of stuff all the time. Hope it continues to make good progress! I would say that the hip has priority over the model! But you still have to finish the model, or we will give you lots of greiff!! 🙂

postshading of the underside, using blue/grey pastelchalk, followed by a rondomly blended in light blue over the panels
14 April 2013, 16:40
Zimmermaniac
been foolin' round with pastels, halfway there, would like to have your opinions guys 🙂
16 April 2013, 19:48
Aghis Barberopoulos
If you don't mind me saying, the surface looks too matt for an aircraft in 1/72 (maybe it's the photo effect), otherwise the post shading is quite effective. Are you applying a glossy or semi-glossy varnish afterwards ?
16 April 2013, 20:08
Christian Lehmann
Well done Zimmi. Looks o.k.
16 April 2013, 20:12
Zimmermaniac
@ Aghis : the matcoat is to hold the pastels, final coat will be more semimatt

Hi Zimmi,
my congrats for such a nice He 177 model!

You achieved truly amazing results! What a mess of work with all those small Photo etched parts! Looks great.
The paint
I was thinking the contour of the nose cone would looks quiet better than presented on the the 48 scale model?
Thumbs up, mate!

13 December 2013, 08:14
Wim van der Luijt
great model of a very interesting subject...like the markings!
13 December 2013, 10:19
Burkhard D
Your mix colors are fine for me! Best built and best painted He177 I've ever seen 👍👍👍
13 December 2013, 10:33
Zimmermaniac
thnx guys
the only downthing in this box is the glasshouse....Revell should think about new moulds for it when they ever rerelease the kit...with nowadays moulding capacities it should be able to produce a high standard canopy
13 December 2013, 10:54
Es-haq Khosravi
I agree with you! The only lack in several Revell kits is their canopies!
