I hereby present one of my earlier models, the BMW R 80 GS Paris-Dakar with pilot figure in 1:12 from Tamiya.
It shows the winner machine of 1985, piloted by Gaston Rahier. I made the model and its vignette in the 1990s. As a fan of offroad bikes I definitely had to own the three kits Tamiya offered that time (BMW R 80 GS, Honda NXR 750, KTM 250 MX)!
Building this kit OOB was pure fun, I remember.
Model and figure have been painted with Humbrol enamels. The airbrush was used extensively during painting and dusting. It was my faithful old Hansa Aero Pro. Pigments were no issue that time.
I was far from using shading techniques on the figure those days. Just some shaded colour in the clothing pleats - but more a washing then glaze.
For the vignette I had the edges of a board laminated at the home store. The ground has been modeled with styrofoam and plaster. The rocks are pebble stones chosen to match with the color of the oil binding agent I took as rubble. Some dry plant parts touch up the scene.
