Steve, I found that Humbrol gloss red was the exact paint match for my Ferrari & it went smoothly on my airbrush mixed with Tamiya enamel thinner.
Steve & Bill thanks for the nice comments.

Humbrol's paints have got better and better over the years and some of their colours are now spot-on.
I haven't used their Rosso Red, but I have seen it, I might give it a try... Top job👍

Must try man, it went smoothly in my badger airbrush & the gloss red is the exact color for Ferrari.

The Merlin Bruno, is just one of my all time favourite sounding Engines, as a child our garden in Hampton led down to the river Thames. So I could always be found playing or fishing there.
Constables Boatyard was next door, he moored boats for people, he had some of those beautiful 1950's speedboats. One in particular was my favourite, it had the back end that seemed to slope down and disappear into the water, not a blunt square end like most other boats. In the summer the owner would turn up on a Sunday, to take it out for a run, I swear, you could still hear that boat 20 minutes later after it had left the yard. I asked the guy about his boat and he explained it was powered by a Merlin Engine, one of the most powerful engines in the World, he took me out in it and I can still feel the power of that boat today. It was a friend of my fathers, who raced cars when I was four and a half years old that made me a Petrol head, he took me racing with him. It was Ferrari at Monaco in the pits with my fathers friend in 1955, that made me love Ferrari and F1. But it was also in my Genes as my father was a Chief Engineer in the Royal Navy and was Chief Engineer of the Metropolitan Water Board (now Thames Water) after the War, and thats why we lived on the river Thames, as he was in charge of Hampton Water Works.
So I had a lot of different reasons for being a petrol head today, the Merlin is definitely one of them🙂

I'm not surprized you didn't get punished, they were so relieved you came down in one piece...
I find it a very charismatic account of ones childhood though.
I also find it very interesting how what happens to us in our tender years, has such a huge affect on our outcome as adults...
Not related to your story but somehow bought to mind a film called ACES HIGH, if you get a chance it's a good watch Bruno...

My first F-1 car model by Tamiya in 1/20 scale using Model Master & Humbrol paints. This was very challenging to me since it was not my forte, just for a change need to do other than aircraft. But this Ferrari F-1 car was fun to built, comments & suggestions are welcome.
