Yep, made with Aves 2-part putty and sanded to shape. Masking them for the white flash is going to be a pain...

Did you do anything with the cowling? A lot of people saw it off and thin the walls before re-attaching. I sawed a bit of a trench and then used a plastic cutter to scribe on an angle and create a bit of an overlap. Seemed better than taking the whole thing off.

Basically did the same - used a scriber on an angle to add some depth and thin the edge at the same time. Happy with the way it worked. Also opened the front air intake and added a cylinder (used the Tiger Moth kit as an example).

I'm glad to hear it worked. I saw some builds where they sawed the whole front end off and I was trying to figure out why exactly... seemed like a workable solution and I was happy with my result... but it's always nice to know someone else ALSO thought that was a good idea. I'm also planning to open the front air intake and add the cylinder, so I'll be watching closely.

Album info

The DHC Chipmunk as seen in The Black Island - with the bubble canopy and spats on the wheels. Interior rebuilt with side-wall detail, new seats and floor and new instrument panel for the pilot. Also sanded down the raised detail and rescribed panels. Propeller and spinner have also been reprofiled to a better shape.
