I've started assembling all of the PE parts from the Eduard BigEd kit for the catalina and it is pretty big, so this will take a while 🙂.

Cool. Built an earlier issue of this kit almost 20 years ago as a kid, have vivid memories of it just because this thing was so MASSIVE!

Yes, it's big and I haven't got anywhere to put it yet. I already have a Lancaster in 1:48 and there is a B-17G coming, so I will have to make place somehow. 🙂

I have the original version of Monogram in the camp and it irritates me for a long time, your progression always let me look for the kit
New control units in Resin, Eduard and a lot of patience will be necessary
I like to watch 👍

I had to do some work as there was a gap between the canopy and the cockpit opening. Added a couple of pictures to show the work.

Thanks Arne!
I've laid down the base camoflage. Next will be a gloss coat and decals.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the support! 🙂.
I will take a pause on this project for a while, as the DC-3 I'm building needs to be finished before.

I'm back working on the Catalina. Today I've added the photo etch parts for the landing gear and layed down the base aluminum color.

She looks like postapocalyptic racecar, all glossy and without her wing (pic 21)
Nice job!

Thanks Martin, Roland and Gordon!
@Martin That's actually a really good idea for a future scratch-build 👍. Thinking...

Thanks Roberto and Erik!
The Catalina is finished. Although, as always, I made alot of mistakes along the way, I'm pleased with the result. It was a nicely detailed kit from Revell/Monogram and it fit together pretty well. The only thing that let it down was the quality of the clear parts. The BigEd photo etch kit was a really nice addition with lots of extra detail. Especially for the under carriage and for the floats. 🙂

Just beautiful. The size comparison with the corsair caught me by surprise, i always imagined her way bigger.

The Corsair is a pretty big plane. Compared to a spit or a 109 it would look bigger 🙂.

Very very great result Bjorn. I do not see much mistakes mate. But for you as the builder there is always room for improvement. As all us modellers have!

I agree with all above: it's a beautiful cat ... but ... I just saw that the fuel vent pipes (on the wing, see picture 27) are pointing the wrong way. Hope no one elses notices!

Thanks Thomas for pointing that out. I didn't know that.. It was a little vague in the build description. Guess I should have looked closer at reference pictures. Well, things happen 🙂.

I had the same problem as you - the instructions are unclear. Took me quite some time to figure out which way was correct 🙂

@Thomas I did a white wash on the dark parts and a black wash on the light parts. Then I usually do some dry-brushing to accent some parts.
