1958 SHU-16B/ASW Albatross - wip
This picture is out of the pilots personell album I got from his wife.
The only colored picture of his plane I found.
Tiny parts for me. Regullarly I'm building cars. It is totally new for me
To compare the scale with the 1/144 Space Shuttle
Every part had to get over built
Kind of cuteness 🙂
Base paint added (Revell 90)
Signal orange (Revell 125)
Added the decals. They are from "HaHen"
Landing gear added - 7 parts each side
First layer of matt clear coat
Looks good so far 🙂
That's it. More in the gallery

Nice display - looks like the kit required some attendance? I got the big brother from Trumpeter...

Thank you! Yes, basically I had to lay hand on each part. Every little part had some mold parting lines. The windows didn't fit at all mainly because the windows were not quadrangular in the cell. I have the feeling, that this work was consumption more time than the rest 🙂
I added a new picture ([img1]), where you can see the result of a little filling and sanding 😉
Yesterday I bought the Albatross in 1/72 by Revell 😮. scalemates.com/kits/115171-revell-4380-hu-16b-albatross. But you got it in 1/48? I had to look it up. This might be huge!

I have the 1:72 in the Monogram boxing 🙂 - but I will not build it, too much effort required to get a decent replica 🙁
The 1:48 Albatross has the same length but wingspan is less than the Catalina ...

@Thomas ... I read it too. The kit has rivets all over the fuselage etc. Hm. A lot of sanding and scribing.
@Bjorn ...
